Gareth Black is drawn to December Mayson the moment he spots her across the room at her cousin’s wedding. When he approaches the beautiful woman, she captivates him with her shyness and wit, making him crave her.
With a pull so strong it’s impossible to ignore, December knows there’s something between her and Gareth. She just hopes they’re capable of jumping the hurdles ahead of them.
Two boys, an ex, a surprise that will change everything, and a disgruntled co-worker, guarantee these two will have their work cut out for them if they are going to find their happily ever after.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The single dad romance just does it for me, and when I realized the new ARR book was such a one, I couldn’t wait to get my greedy little hands on it. Until December was a sweet, quick read that had me smiling along with it.
December is an elementary school teacher and an introvert. The rule follower/good girl of her family, she piques Gareth’s interest after just one look. Although their chemistry and attraction are unbelievably hot, circumstances make them start out trying to fight it. The boom wins out, of course, and soon they are both figuring out how to be together.
This reminded me of Kristen Ashley’s Sweet Dreams, one of my favorites, so I had a great time with this story. December was super sweet and caring, Gareth was an OTT sexy alpha, and his kids were both incredibly cute (even if one was olderish).
However, I felt that there were some missed opportunities too, especially with the crazy ex set-up as well as the co-worker. I mean, it’s like those videos where someone is fishing and suddenly the pole bends in half, and you see the person fighting with whatever has been caught and it looks so fierce that you are sure they’ll be reeling a mini whale, but it ends up being like.. seaweed and a minnow? Ok, so I might be exaggerating a little bit, but the foundation for uber drama was all there!!!
At the end of the day, Until December was the cute, lovely romance I was expecting with the hot single dad and the sweet girl who makes him and his kids’ world better. And I absolutely adored that. Thank you, Ms. Reynolds, for taking me to that happy place again.
