After dumping her boyfriend, Nicole Franklin impulsively jumps on a plane and heads to Europe. Sure, money and a job would have been nice to line up first. Even a visa, for that matter. So now she has to play tour guide at an Outlander experience for the most obnoxious man on the planet. Until she stumbles into the wrong bed in the middle of the night and wakes up in Harrison’s arms. Now his family thinks they’re engaged, and the entire village is betting on how long before she’ll be running for the hills.
Harrison Troy has a reputation in the town for burning through assistants. And the bubbly new one he’s just hired is likely no different. But his family quickly has them “engaged.” He should be upset, but she’s the perfect buffer for his interfering family. She says she doesn’t need another man in her life--even if he comes with a castle--and that’s fine with him. So why can’t he stop thinking about the woman who is charming everyone in the town, and maybe even him?
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
“This guy was totally her ideal wet dream waiting to happen. Until he opened his mouth. Even the accent couldn’t save him then”
Scotland or Bust was full of things I loved and it had me laughing and smiling like a fool. At the same time, something about it didn’t totally work for me although I can’t quite put my finger on what it was.
Harrison is flying back home to lend a hand to his family’s business. The mere fact that he has to go to the mostly run-down castle that his parents won’t just let him fix and stay with his crazy relatives drives him crazy. Add to it that their new idea to save their travel agency is giving people a true “Outlander experience” which includes him trampling around their estates wearing a kilt. Almost at his breaking point, he ends up hiring the obnoxiously happy woman who sat next to him on the flight after his assistant quits on him at the very last possible second. Even when the woman in question drove him crazy in the few hours they’ve known each other.
Nikki needs a plan stat. Jumping on a plane with no preparations or clue as to what she was going to do once she landed was probably not the best idea ever. Now she’ll have to accept Harrison’s offer not only because it’s too good to pass, but well… it’s actually the only one she has right that moment.
With incredible chemistry the more time they spend together, the harder it is for them to fight their attraction. And though at first it seems as if they are complete opposites and wouldn’t ever get along, soon they realize that that’s not entirely true.
I liked both Harrison and Nikki. Harrison comes off as a bit of an ass at first, all moody and grumbly, but as he relaxes more and more around Nicole, we get glimpses of a sweeter, caring guy. The accent and the occasional kilt wearing do not hurt his sexiness in the least.
“Harrison stared down at her, kneeling besides his Gran like two peas in a crazy pod. And he’d never wanted to kiss someone so badly in his life.”
I had a bit of a harder time connecting to Nikki, and while I did like her and found her funny, quirky and sweet I felt her issues weren’t as… issue-y as she found them.
While I can’t say I loved Scotland or Bust as much as the two previous stories in this series, I still had a great time reading it and I enjoyed their banter and their sexy shenanigans. I think Outlander fans especially, will totally get a kick out of it too.
