As I was forced by certain member of our team to only choose a meager 10 books for my list, I couldn’t choose ALL of the books I’ve loved this year. But I felt I couldn’t not mention the additional three stories noted in my honorary mentions list. All of them are emotional and heartwarming romances that left me with an uplifted spirit and my faith in humanity restored.
It’s no secret I love my OTT romances and kick-ass epilogues. Add a baby into the mix and I am a happy reader! Lucky for me, I can find this mix of romance in most of the genres, well maybe except for the dark reads 🙂 Read on to check out the books that left me smiling in 2016!
My Top Ten of 2016
The Player and the Pixie by L.H. Cosway & Penny Reid
What is better than a klepto and a famous guy who sucks at sex for the main characters? This author duo had me in stitches, made me fall in love with the most unlikely of characters and gave me all the feels. This series is fantastic and I’m LOVING it.
Swerve + Spin by Sherilee Gray
Brothers who had been pushed into a life of crime find love and redemption when they least expect it. I loved both books and I cannot wait for the third. They are filled with action, sexiness and laugh out loud banter.
Bossman by Vi Keeland
Light, fun and sexy, this was a great read. I love the boss/employee conundrums and I found myself laughing uncontrollably at times. The main characters were fantastic and their banter hilarious.
Blood and Rust by Cat Porter
There are no words to describe Ms. Porter’s writing abilities. I get so into these stories that I can feel them all the way to my innards. If you haven’t read her, go ahead and start right now.
Savage Urges+ Force of Temptation by Suzanne Wright
While I realize these two books are not in the same series, to me they kind of are, as the Mercury and Phoenix pack are strongly intertwined. Both stories have hunky alpha males, kick-ass heroines, action, humor, suspense and hot sex galore. Not sure what else I could ask from a paranormal romance.
Beard Science by Penny Reid
I’m a Penny Reid fan. Her writing is quirky, her characters quirkier and bordering on weird as shit. And I love each and every one of them. With unexpected romance, sexiness, and more than one gem of wisdom hidden between the pages, the Winston Brothers have taken a place in my favorite family of all times list.
Trust by Jana Aston
I think Boyd here might have won the best book boyfriend of the year award. A sweet, funny and charming romance I loved every second of this story.
Our Options have Changed by Julia Kent & Elisa Reed
These new to me authors had me so in love with the characters, due to the book hangover it left me with I have not been able to write my review yet! With a great plot, charming characters and fantastic dialogue I couldn’t put it down until I clicked the last page. I was kicking myself in the butt for not getting to it sooner. A total gem.
Stitched up Heart by Tarina Deaton
I’m astounded that this was the author’s debut work. It’s incredibly good, touches difficult subjects and leaves you all sweet and fuzzy inside.
Blaze by Suzanne Wright
This series just keeps getting better and better… And this coming from someone who doesn’t usually like series about the same couple. With a great twist on the paranormal usual, Ms. Wright takes into a whole new world within our world, with the alpha-est, bossiest and possessiveiest of all males ever written. Paired with a complete kick ass weirdo for a heroine this is high high high on my favorites books of the year.
