Benny had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick. Just like him, his dolly needed darkness as a fix, fix, fix. So they tormented and hunted and played tricks, tricks, tricks. Together their sins a lethal mix, mix, mix.
Until Benny missed his dolly who was lost, lost, lost. He needed to find her and love her at any cost, cost, cost. Not wanting him and his dolly to be alone, lone, lone. He made plans to bring his dirty dolly, home, home, home.
Have you ever touched another’s soul with the essence of your own, breathed them in so they become apart of you? I have. Finally starting to live, feel and fall in love, amongst all the chaos surrounding me. Dropping my guard and letting another into my heart. I left my soul open. I left my heart open. I left the door open. And he stole me. Dillon…I’m sorry.
Wow, this story is intense. Benny is Sick, Sick Sick! He is a man with a fixation with dolls, only trouble his can’t differentiate between a living person and an inanimate toy. His confused state of mind, which is a result of a horrific childhood, caused me to ponder if a person is born like this or are they a product of their environment? Whatever the catalyst was for his obsession was, he was the centre of fear and terror in this series. The Pretty Dolls Series must be read in order. It’s dark, bordering on horror but married with hope and determination to put an end to Benny.
Jade is a woman determined to right the crimes committed against her and her sister Macy. She is now a police officer who is still battling her scars from the time spent in captivity with Benny. Having moved on with the support of her new partner, together they are trying to find the monster who still haunts and taunts Jade. Both Jade and Dillon are great characters working well together professionally and socially. The characters are complex adding to the compelling nature of the plot. I had suspicions as to what would happen but not when nor did I pick the ending.
This story is hauntingly brilliant, the road and destination Jade travels down to search for closure is unpredictable. The suspense was in full force right up until the epilogue. I can’t emphasise enough the details included in this story are graphic. Benny is a sick and twisted lost soul who managed to evoke empathy despite his tortured mind. If you have read Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan, you’ll get what I mean by sharing Benny and Frankie are alike in their obsessive feelings.
All I can say is if you enjoyed Pretty Stolen Dolls, you won’t be disappointed with Pretty Lost Dolls!
