As a newly single mother, Carrie Farmer isn’t quite ready to jump back into the dating pool in Ardent Springs—especially since her last marriage was such a disaster. But if anyone could entice her to wade in a bit, it would be her hunky neighbor, Noah Winchester. He’s the perfect man: strong, protective, and smoking hot. But her eyes have deceived her before, and she’s no longer willing to hand over her heart so easily.
After completing several tours in the Middle East, Noah returns to his hometown a very different man. The former soldier’s plan to rest and relax is soon waylaid by the intriguing woman next door and her heart-stealing little girl. Something—or someone—put shadows in Carrie’s lovely eyes, and he’s determined to clear them away. But when hidden demons can no longer be ignored, the couple gets a reminder from an unexpected source that love truly can conquer all.

Her Hopes and Dream turned out to be quite a different book from what I was expecting. It was a very enjoyable story so it wasn’t a bad thing, it just took me by surprise with where it was going.
Carrie is a single mother. Widowed now after an abusive marriage, her past mistakes prevent her from trusting her own judgment. That doesn’t mean she can’t help other women in her same situation as she once was helped. She is working on opening a shelter for women and children in need.
Everything was hunky-dory, or as good as it could be, until the owner of the farm where she’d bought a parcel of land moves in. Noah is a vet trying to acclimate back into civilian life. With nightmares that haunt him every night and a complete aversion to crowds, he is more than happy to keep to himself. That is until he gets a visit from his new next door neighbor, his old friend’s widow.
At first, both Noah and Carrie think the worst about the other. They each have their reasons, but both are mostly wrong. As they reluctantly start to spend time together while remodeling the future shelter, things start to change for both of them.
Carrie had a lot of issues to overcome. She had made some bad choices in the past but she was set on changing and giving her baby girl the best life possible. When her feelings for Noah begin to change she’ll have to decide if she can let go of the past and trust herself and a man again. She was a great mom, caring and funny.
Noah doesn’t believe he’ll ever be right again. He came back resigned to a half-life by himself, and never dreamt he could have much more. He was protective, incredibly sweet and considerate. Past hurts and a somewhat pessimistic outlook on his condition could very well mean he might lose everything he never knew he wanted.
I truly enjoyed reading Her Hopes and Dreams. It’s a sweet story of learning to give everyone a second chance, not to judge by past experiences and building your trust in yourself again. A protective ex-marine, a single mom and a sweet baby made for a great read.
