A feast she wasn't expecting!
Clover Greene would sooner crawl into her oven than host family for Thanksgiving dinner. Yet another annual ritual of too much food, served with a side of criticism over "Clover's Bad Life Choices." This year, she needs to distract them all—with a handsome fake boyfriend. And she has the perfect guy in mind.
Contractor Erick Fields is the poster boy for sexy single dads, and Clover has been secretly crushing on him for ages. She certainly wasn't expecting Erick to agree to her insane charade…or to add lots of hot, wicked sex to the deal. If they can pull it off, the worst Thanksgiving ever might give them something to be really thankful for!

This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.

The holiday in question was Thanksgiving. One that Clover was dreading, but her ever helpful young assistant had a couple of good ideas to make family time for her boss a little more easier. Clover’s family think she is lacking in life. An unmarried 3o-year-old college drop out who’s working in ‘retail’, to appease her family she needs them to think she in a relationship, at least while they are visiting her for Thanksgiving.

What unfolds is an arrangement between Clover and Ruthie’s father, Erick to convince Clover’s family their relationship is genuine. Clover hopes this will give her a reprieve from the hassling she endures about her personal life. What unfolds is a fun and genuine adventure of discovery. Ms Reisz’s witty charm flows through the fun and awkward moments. There were times when the lines were corny, but as Erick is a father of 17 years, he fell into the acceptable zone of being an accomplished ‘dad joke’ verified, and all his throw away lines were quirky rather than corny.

There was tongue in cheek moments, literally and figuratively. The articulately described steamy moments were devoid of ‘cutesy’ names for body parts, after all, this is an adult story. Awkward moments were met head on, (no avoiding the puns, you’ll have to forgive me) and what transpired were two mature adults learning to step back into life in a relationship. It was entertaining and moving, no frustrating hesitations with every new step they took a carefully (but not lengthy) negotiated maneuver.

With each character brilliantly brought to life in this story. The reality of the humorous situation provided an angle I could easily identify with, while never been in either of their exact situations. The story examined life goals and what’s important, it showed angles of parenting that resonated the importance of open and frank communicating and then it delivered it all with a hefty layer of respect.

The richness of the characters was in keeping with what you expect from a Tiffany Reisz book. They have a depth to them that draws you into an instant bond. This is the second book in the series but I had no problem reading this book not having read the first one, as this story is a standalone. A standalone with a steamy, wonderful adventure hidden between the innocent looking covers. Seeing who wrote the story, I knew I would be in for a treat, a naughty but nice holiday surprise!
