Seasons of Betrayal, Book 2
Blood always leaves the brightest stains where the snow falls.
Fresh out of lockup, Kazimir Markovic is focused on two things only—having Violet Gallucci back at his side, and putting his father in the ground. With his plans already in motion the very second he’s free, Kaz goes after what’s most important. Violet first. Vasily second.
The Russians are out for blood.
The Italians want their blood back.
It’s only a matter of time before someone comes for Kaz and Violet—hiding was never in their plans. And they’ve been waiting for this …
The game they’re playing is dangerous.
Someone always has to lose.
From authors London Miller (Den of Mercenaries) and Bethany-Kris (The Chicago War) comes the second installment in the Seasons of Betrayal series that has readers calling it “A modern day Romeo and Juliet.”
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Oh My Stars…this is good!
Kaz is a man on a mission. He may be young, but he is a man possessed as he works his way through his complicated life. A life complicated because he is in love with a woman from a family who is off limits to him. Both of their fathers are furious; they showed how far their fury could go at the end of the last book. I went into this book fearful of the retribution ready to be unleashed from any or all of the people impacted by Kaz and Violet’s choices.
The surprising aspect of this story is the generous amount of easy going time the main characters got to enjoy! After the desperate situation, the fated lovers were left in at the end of the first book; I expected the worse. Lulled into a false sense of security by Kaz’s cool calm attitude, when the threats and drama escalated I put my head in the sand and stopped reading. Curiosity got the better of me, and I bravely began tapping pages again.
I mentioned in my review for Where the Sun Hides, the combined writing of Bethany-Kris and London Miller is succinct. Again, this book shines as did the first with good consistent page-turning chapters. My enjoyment was evident in the time I spent reading this book; having it accessible on both my Kindle and phone to ensure every possible moment could be spent reading. A sign of a reading addict or a damn good book, I have no doubt it is more than likely a combination of both 🙂
The ending was rather suspenseful; there is no doubt more drama lies ahead for the Markovic and Galluci families. Some would call it a cliffhanger ending, but with suspense books, especially dark ones I expect to be left hanging to a certain extent. The wait between releases in the series so far has been short IMO, so for me the added anticipation the ending provided is additional suspense!
Lily’s Rating: 5 Stars
