Iain wasn't just rough around the edges-he was uncivilized, despite all the elegant trappings and expensive suits. And Brynn wanted more of it. She wanted Iain in full-on barbarian mode. She wanted to be taken.
Filthy rich British bad boy Iain Chapman made a name for himself as a ruthless businessman, but if he can secure an investment from Vegas powerhouse Trevor Blake, Iain could take his business to the next level. Solution? Hire beautifully timid corporate trainer-and Trevor's sister-in-law-Brynn Campbell and seduce his way to success.
Brynn's everything Iain is not: kind, delicate, decent. But she's also got a taste for something a little beastly, and it doesn't take long for Iain to break through her every inhibition. Brynn was supposed to be his pawn, but as Iain gets closer to his goal, he begins to realize he's not ready to let her go, not now, not ever-even if it costs him everything.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
His to Keep is the story of wannabe wallflower Brynn and major jerkwad business mogul with a hot British accent Iain.
Iain is a very cunning business man who’ll get anything he wants by any means necessary. His people skills are severely lacking, as he prefers to bark, scowl and keep people fearing for their jobs as a motivational tool. Yeah, his office atmosphere was as warm as Antarctica during winter time.
Now he has his eyes on a project that’ll mean some heavy investment and he already decided who his investor will be: Brynn’s brother-in-law. That he has been bordering-on-obsession-taken with her since the moment he laid eyes on her is just a plus, he’ll get to have her and the introduction he needs for his project.
Brynn hates confrontation and hurting people’s feelings, which means pretty much everyone who knows her takes advantage of her. She is currently employed at a corporate-training company as a curriculum writer… to start with. No one noticing her is her description of Heaven, and really struggles with being the center of any kind of attention.
With some inside information Iain finds the way to get his introduction to Brynn; he has hired her to change the atmosphere of his company. It takes Brynn all of five minutes to realize what the problem is, Iain’s ruthless and downright rude attitude.
Iain is enchanted by Brynn and is completely unapologetic about his attraction to her. Brynn on her part has never been so captivated by a man before, he’s forceful and commanding persona gives her a thrill she can’t deny.
This story was quite entertaining, Iain starts off as a complete asshat but he soon finds himself wanting to do better for Brynn and trying to live by her new motto for him “Don’t be a dickhead”. Brynn on her part starts, basically, growing a spine, being more assertive and generally standing up for herself when needed.
His to Keep caught me by surprise with all the naughty, sexy scenes. Brynn’s need to be dominated in the bedroom led to some very hot moments.
However for a relationship that is such a whirlwind (they’re practically living together by week 2) this was a long book. Their time apart is spent mostly in each of the MCs head and this got a bit tedious, especially when sharing Brynn’s headspace and all her insecurities.
While it started as a stepping stone for a business plan, Iain can’t help but fall for the gentle beauty that is Brynn. She can’t help but see the good in Iain… but of course nothing is easy even when it seems meant to be, and both Brynn and Iain will need to resolve some of their issues before they can get their HEA.
