After being dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight, Henry Beckett decides to make some drastic changes. In a vain attempt at getting his boyfriend back, Henry does the most absurdly frightening thing he can think of.
He joins a gym.
Reed Henske is a personal trainer who isn’t sure he’ll ever be ready to date again. He’s sick of guys who are only interested in the perfect body image, never seeing him for who he really is.
As Reed tortures Henry with things like diet and exercise, Henry enamours Reed with recipes and laughter. As the friendship lines start to blur, Henry is convinced there’s no way Thor-like Reed could ever be interested in a guy like him.
Reed just has to convince Henry that life isn’t about reaching your ideal bodyweight. It’s about finding your perfect counterweight.

A Heartwarming Romance

Seeing the word weight in a book title is enough to have me running for the hills. Not literally, of course, because I don’t do ‘run’. ??? So I was blown away when this book reached out to me on so many levels. Weight, Fitness and Love.

Full Disclosure: My battle with weight began from my first weigh in at 2 weeks old. I was a Bonny baby who started off impressing the clinic sister (nurse) with my healthy appetite and I haven’t looked back since! Last year I caught the gym bug, lost it and found it again.

So I had no trouble empathising with Henry’s concerns about his weight or his first struggles keeping up with a fitness class. Surprisingly, the issues I resonated with had me smiling. The harsh thoughts I had often slammed myself with were unpacked brilliantly, shedding new light on issues reminding me what’s important in life.

If he doesn’t love you at your worst, then he doesn’t deserve to love you at your best.”

Henry is recovering from a long-term relationship that ended abruptly. Determined to improve himself, he joins a gym to get fit and lose weight. It just so happens the instructor he meets is the epitome of hotness. Henry lacks a filter and comes out with quirky lines that strike up an instant rapport between him and his instructor. Henry and Reed go on an inspirational journey from strangers to lovers. Their chemistry takes awhile to reach the next level with Henry’s lack of confidence causing him to overlook the subtle boyfriend vibes Reed sends his way. Once he clues in and takes a chance on Reed their relationship takes off!

The Weight of it All is a well paced book that I read in one sitting. I adored the humour, sage advice and the great cast of characters that brought this MM romance to life. If you’re after a beautiful light hearted romance with all the feels, check this book out!
