From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances…
It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”
Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.
The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.
He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.
But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end...
This was one of the last books I read last year and it’s going straight to my top 10 list!! I’ve been wanting to read Hate Notes for quite some time so I was more than ecstatic when I found it was available through KU!
I went in sure that I knew how the story was going to unfold, but let me tell you, there was more than one curveball I didn’t see coming!
Charlotte is having a rough time: cheating fiancée, joblessness and homelessness all in one sweep does not a happy person make. When she finds a note written by who must be the most romantic guy on the whole planet, her faith in true love is kind of restored… until she decides to stalk him and sign up for a viewing of a million-dollar estate she has no business viewing. Unfortunately, what she finds there is not the romantic Reed Eastwood of her fantasies but a cynical, cold but seriously hot jerk in a bow tie.
Luck would have it that she ends up being his PA, and even though they start off apparently hating each other, their underlying attraction and fabulous chemistry just keeps building until it’s too much. But things are not as simple as they seem and if they want their HEA they will have to fight and reach for it.
I really liked Charlotte, she was an optimistic ray of sunshine with a unique way of looking at things and I loved her for it. I totally loved that she had a temper and she’d go head to head with Reed whenever necessary.
Reed was a true romantic. He had to build a wall after a series of events made him question his entire life, but he eventually is able to tear it down with Charlotte’s help. He had more than one total asshole moment, especially before us knowing why he acted the way he did, and I found myself wanting to throw my kindle at his head. Ultimately, he manages to overcome his issues and everything is hunky-dory.
I loved how Hate Notes had some serious issues interwoven in the light romance, making it much more dimensional. It also had me sniffling and dabbing at my eyes with a tissue here and there, so to say I was totally invested in the characters is an understatement. With a great pace, awesome banter, scorching chemistry and some crazy shenanigans this was a fantastic way to end my reading-year.
