“Give me a memory, Noah.”
That’s what she said … the woman who rendered me stupid in the shadows at a wedding reception. I did everything I could to figure her out. She wore more veils of armor than I’ve seen in a lifetime. On the outside, she was strong and self-assured. But within those beautiful, guarded blues? She was laced with vulnerability and grief.
We had one night. The best night. She got the memory she wanted, but in the process, I was left branded.
Then she thought she could strut out my front door and my life, right after announcing she was my boss’s baby sister.
I had no choice but to follow. Not only did I go after her, I chased her halfway around the world. Because when it comes to her, one memory isn’t enough. It doesn’t matter that there couldn’t be a more opposite pair than us.
Gracie Cain is a healer. I’m Noah Jarvis, a cold-hearted killer.
But when my job came back to bite me in the ass, I wasn’t the only one caught in the crossfire. It bought us memories no one was counting on.
That’s when all the veils were ripped off.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Do I even need to write anything in this review? I mean, it’s a romance by Ms. Asher… that should suffice to convey the likelihood of this being an awesome read.
I had been waiting a long time for Jarvis to get his story, and the fact Gracie Cain is the one to melt this badass’ heart was just plain perfection.
Now beware, there are some topics mentioned that might be a bit sensitive for some people but nothing so drastic that warrants a warning IMHO View Spoiler »though Gracie does get roughed up at one point, but obviously not by Jarvis « Hide Spoiler
“I can’t sleep with you while you’re naked. I never sleep with anyone, let alone anyone naked.”
“You could be naked, too, then it wouldn’t be weird.”
Gracie was the best. After what she went through as a child and what that entailed for her future, she still had the softest heart ever. Warm, caring, funny and with tons of sass and some serious backbone, Gracie is now one of my favorite heroines by Ms. Asher.
Picture the most perfect book-boyfriend you could come up with, then make him a hitman who takes out bad guys and that’ll be him. Bossy, alpha, uber protective and surprisingly sweet and romantic in that alpha-macho way… This prime piece of hunky badass will melt your butter in no time flat.
“Baby, if you really sucked at one-night stands, you think I would’ve raced around the world to be here before you landed so you didn’t go traipsing off into the Sonian Forest by yourself?
With lots, and LOTS of action, a bit of family drama, seriously hot sexnanigans, and all the romance your heart will ever need, Veils totally rocked my world. Ms. Asher, please keep up the good work… and like, really, really fast?
