I didn’t realize I was falling, not until my heart was lost in love with him.
After years of close friendship with former Marine and security specialist, Sid Masters, Samantha McAllister finds herself grappling with feelings far beyond friendship. After a line is crossed, Sam’s heart is broken in the process.
When Sam gets caught up in a web of deceit and violence that brings the Russian mafia to her door, Sid will stop at nothing to protect her.
Samantha belongs with Sid; she just doesn’t know it yet. He’s determined to show her.
With the men of Talon at his back, Sid fights to protect his girl and to reclaim her heart.
This is the story of Sam and Sid.
Book One of the Talon Security series, can be read as a stand alone.
* Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
I’ve been a Megan O’Brien fan since I read the first book in her biker series, The Ride. I know when I start reading one of her books I will get an easy, entertaining read with likable characters and just enough action to keep my attention. In fact, several of her books that may not have gotten 5 stars from me on the front end have become comfort reads I reach for when I just want to veg out and forget the rest of the world.
We met both Sid and Sam in Ryker, the fourth book in The Ride series and even then their chemistry was something to behold. Needless to say, I was all about reading their story and it didn’t disappoint.
Since Sid screwed up royally several months before, this can be classified as both a best-friends-to-lovers and a second-chance romance. Truly, neither of those are tropes I gravitate towards but it worked for me here. Why? Because there wasn’t a lot of immature NA back-and-forth crap keeping them apart. They both had issues and hang-ups but they were grownups in how they managed things.
I realized that if I was going out on an edge, he was the only person I’d want to cling to.
A security specialist, Sid is very good at taking care of business. He’s the perfect combination of badass and alpha sweet and I loved that. Plus, he gave good grovel. As for Sam, she’s not exactly badass, but she can hold her own and is strong in her own way.
As I said before, there is tangible chemistry between Sid and Sam. When they finally get together it’s not just the hotness factor that ramps up, the emotional one does too. I loved this.
We also get introduced to Sam’s brother, Travis who happens to be Sid’s boss, along with the rest of Travis and Sid’s team. I liked them all and I look forward to getting each of their stories.
Just as I expected, Crave was a quick and easy read with a good mix of action, emotion, and sexy times. I’m definitely looking forward to diving into Travis’ story, which I believe is next.
