Sunny’s outlook on the holidays isn’t so merry, but when she gets roped into playing Mrs. Claus for the local hospital, she discovers Christmas miracles aren’t just reserved for the children.
Note: This is a standalone short story with plenty of heat to chase away that winter chill, an HEA, and NO cliffhangers!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The idea of a quick read from a familiar author was the perfect choice for this busy time of year. Santa Baby is a second chance, sweet and easy to read novella. Here, the joy of the season had a lot more surprise packed into the deal than Mrs. Claus was prepared for.
A charity event at a local hospital brings two volunteers together who had no idea the other would be there. They instantly recognise each other which evokes mixed feelings from Sunny. The company she now works for chooses who gets the honor of dressing up as Mrs. Clause each year and much to Sunny’s horror, she was chosen
First she is confronted with dealing with a laundry mishap and the she realised Santa is way too familiar for her liking. She wonders whether she has drawn the short straw or been given the best Christmas gift ever. Mostly she believes her predicament is less than stellar. Sunny’s uncertainty drove me crazy and almost gave me whiplash with her indecisive reactions.
Kyle is one happy Santa this year. Mrs. Claus is everything he ever wanted and he is determined not to let her out of his life. He just has to make her believe in him. Lucky for him, he’s the kind of guy that is easy to like.
While I enjoyed Sunny and Kyle’s story, it was predictable. Sunny’s reluctance to get back with Kyle was futile considering her strong attraction to him. I get that she didn’t want to get hurt again but their chemistry was stronger than her attempts to remain distant.
The story brings together a bit of friendly banter and goodwill. Romance was the last thing Sunny or Kyle expected when they set out to bring joy to the young patients at the hospital.
Santa Baby was a steamy holiday romance that didn’t wow me, but definitely left me smiling with its sweet happy ending.
