Harper and Knox are back and better than ever! The fourth book in Suzanne Wright's globally bestselling The Dark in You series is not to be missed.
Harper and Knox are back and better than ever . . . Discover the unmissable fourth book in Suzanne Wright's globally bestselling The Dark in You series
The final horseman awaits . . . and the stakes have never been higher.
With the birth of their son, Asher, Harper and Knox are both more powerful and more vulnerable than they've ever been before. Asher's charm has seduced even the devil himself, but Harper knows that the real villain is still out there, and as desperate as ever to see the Primes fall. They're laying low, and there's no way to tell which one of their circle is really a deadly foe . . .
When the final horseman makes their move, Harper and Knox will have to use all the considerable power at their disposal - and that may even include Asher's mysterious abilities. One thing's for sure - this is a baby who's more than a match for any demon coming after him.
It's time for the world's most formidable family to take the fight to the enemy . . .
This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.
I cannot even begin to describe how excited Sparkles’ and I were when Embers published. Knox is in both of our Top Ten Book Boyfriend lists so to say we were stoked is an understatement of epic proportions. Lily, for whatever reason, hasn’t read the Dark In You series, but we are working on her since the only thing that could have made this more fun was for her to be along for the ride. And what a ride it was!
We immediately started in with guesses as to who the final horseman would end up being.
Spice: Drew…interesting. But I’ll be disappointed if he’s the bad guy. Too soon.
Sparkles: No, I think he’ll keep us distracted while the real culprit flies under our radar. Much like Nora.

In fact, the mystery kept us on our toes the entire book, generating lots of discussion with some wild theories thrown out there. I’m not going to spoil things, but both of us ended up being quite prophetic in some of our comments, which made for just a bit of smugness on our parts.
We were thrilled when Knox, the biggest badass of them all, actually had an opponent thrown at him that was a decent match. We knew he’d have to work at taking him down, and it wouldn’t be easy. Needless to say, we loved all the suspense and action we were treated to.
But what completely blew us away was the chemistry between Knox and Harper. It didn’t matter this is the fourth book focusing on this couple, these two can rev up some serious fire between them. There were scenes that were so hot, it was jaw-dropping.
“He fucked her hard. Brutally rammed into her like there was a fever in his blood.Because there was. Her. She was the fever. She wasn’t just deep under his skin. She was in his blood, bones, cells—everywhere. Filled and soothed every fracture and void inside him.”

Another thing we loved was when Knox actually gave good grovel. Don’t worry, I’m not going to ruin it for you by quoting the best part, but I will give you this:
“I’m an asshole.”
“Yes, you are.”
We love how Harper didn’t roll over immediately. She actually made him work for it and, let me tell you, he not only hit it out of the ballpark, with his version of makeup sex he sent that ball up to the stratosphere. ” “Dammmnnn” indeed…
As much as I love Harper and Knox and will miss them being the focus of any future books, this series has some strong supporting characters and we can’t wait to get their stories. Even better, now we have a new one to ooh and ahh over in baby Asher. I know it will be a long time before he’s old enough for us to get his story, but we both hope he gets lots of page time. He was so cute he almost stole the show! (OMG, those cute little cuffs).
I can’t tell you how much we loved this book. With our favorite couple at the helm, Embers was everything we wanted it to be and more with the action, suspense, mystery and all the scorching chemistry it delivered. When we finished, we were both heartbroken at the thought of not getting a new SW book until December. That is until we realized neither of us had read very far into the Deep In Your Veins Series. I feel another buddy read coming on soon!

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again…if Suzanne Wright writes it, I will drop everything and read it. Not even out of town family that I haven’t seen in years could stop me from reading. I even stayed in while everyone else went sailing and let me tell you, it was freakin’ worth it!
When someone asks me who my favorite paranormal alpha book boyfriend is, Knox immediately comes to mind. He is sexy, dominant, and he loves his Harper so much, he’d literally burn the world down if something happened to her. It takes a special couple to make me want to read more than one book about them, but I just can’t get enough of these two. One of the main reasons is Knox gets better with each and every book, which is saying a lot since he blew my socks off in the first one. With Embers, it was all about the grovel. Hoo boy, I didn’t know he had it in him because he’s the epitome of an alphahole but first he was a colossal ass and then he made it right in more ways than one-wink wink nudge nudge.
I can’t just give all the love to Knox because I freaking adore Harper too. The entire demon world is terrified of her husband, except for her. She loves him but she knows if she gives him an inch he’ll take a mile. To combat this, she goes toe to toe with him all the time which makes for a fun read. Here, she proved without a doubt that she is just as scary as her mate, maybe even more so.
Even now that they are married with a child, the chemistry between Knox and Harper is so palpable, it could be a character on its own. Holy hotness, Ms. Wright can write a sex scene. I think I have more of them highlighted than I do anything else. I thought about adding some quotes, but then decided you needed to experience these things first hand. Prepare to be blown away and might I suggest you also have your significant other close at hand, or at the very least…well, you get the idea.
As much as I adore Knox and Harper, the true star of this show was baby Asher. The little guy was absolutely adorable and mischievous with a huge side of cuteness. I just wanted to eat him up with a spoon.
True to Suzanne Wright’s other books, this was not all about the hot stuff, this was a who-done-it that kept me on my toes. I had theories running the entire time but was never one hundred percent sure until the final reveal. I love it when that happens! As if this wasn’t enough, my need for grit was constantly fed as there was plenty of ass kicking going on. Saying Embers took me to my paranormal happy place doesn’t do it justice, I was in Paranormal Nirvana.

Holy shirtballs, Batman! I just can’t decide what I loved best about Embers and that is saying a lot! Seriously, though, I really don’t know how to review this without it sounding like a total fangirl. Do I even try?
Knox was his usual dark, sexy and OTT alpha, bossy self. Which I totally loved. Harper continued to be the sassy, unapologetic ray of sarcastic sunshine that she is. Which I also totally loved. Asher was beyond words cute and hilarious. Which I more than loved and might possibly be my favorite part of this book (but for like a teeny tiny amount).
As usual, Knox’s sentinels along with Harper’s family and friends and even Lou, were the cherry on top of this completely yummy sundae of a read. It’s incredible to me that this being the last installment of Knox and Harper’s story (insert devastated gif here) I want there to be more of them, when I usually don’t like series when the same couple is featured in more than one book.
There is action galore, the suspense is spot on as this one kept us guessing until the very last second. (So maybe Spice got it way before me, but I had an inkling!!) What I was not expecting was Ms. Wright’s managing to make Knox and Harper’s sextivities any hotter. Well, I take off my hat to you, Suzanne. They are freaking hot together… literally scorching. I mean… just… *fanning self and speechless*
Embers was everything I was expecting and more, and at the risk of sounding lame (but not really caring) I LOVED IT SO FUCKING MUCH!! It saddens me that this is the close to their story, but I’m hoping we’ll get to see them in the stories of their sentinels and friends and family. Let me rephrase this: we better keep seeing more of them in the next stories. Especially little Asher and his baby kickassness.
