As the VP of Kings of Retribution MC, I live and breathe this life. After suffering the loss of two women in my life, I grew cold and indifferent to the idea of love. I don't need to let anyone in. I've seen the aftermath it can leave in its quake.
The last thing I'm looking for is someone to fill the void.
Until-- Bella Jameson
Struggling to keep my head above water, my only concern is taking care of my sister. The last ting I expected was to fall in love with a tattooed biker, Logan Kane. With evil hiding in the shadows, I have no idea the danger my sister and I are about to face.
Will they overcome their demons in the end, or will they lose each other in the process? Lies will be told, secrets will be revealed, and what was once lost... will be found.
Saved by the Russian Mafia!
The clock is ticking down and I’m getting dangerously close to getting behind with some upcoming ARCs so what do I do? I join the Goodreads Biker Book Babes in a Buddy Read of Undaunted. I mean seriously, how could I not? There are some fun chicks in that group.
I would consider this biker lite. This is a 1% MC and there was a body count as they worked through the club issues but it was pretty tame compared to others. I did think some of their actions weren’t consistent with what they were supposed to be, especially when it came to a certain club whore towards the end of the book. All in all, though, it had a decent plot but it did feel like one of what I call a “Biker Checklist Book”: sexy biker hero ✓, virgin heroine ✓, club whore issues ✓, gun running ✓, kidnappings ✓… you get the picture.
Logan, VP of The Kings of Retribution MC, was a pretty boilerplate biker hero. I liked him and would have probably loved him, but he kind of fell down a few notches towards the end when he got all up in his own head for a bit. He also wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and it showed at times. But he was hot, sexy, and alpha…so yeah, I liked him okay. Bella was likable enough too, but she had a slight case of TSTL-itis. Well, maybe more than slight but she was really sweet, not one of those “I’m going to do stupid shit to show you how independent I am” biker book heroines so I did my best to ignore it. It somewhat worked.
What saved the book for me was the Russians showing up. Until that point, I was definitely hitting the “biker bored zone”. Add in some Ruskis and suddenly I’m perking up. The twist on why they were there was enough to keep me turning the pages. Plus, I haven’t done a buddy read with this group in a while and it added to the whole book experience.
This ended up being one of those hard to rate books. It was an okay read but it suffered from a serious case of First-book-itis. There were grammar issues that seemed to get worse as the book progressed, timeline issues, and some character issues as well. With all that you’d think I’d be giving it a 2 to 2.5 rating and moving along, but I’m actually going to read the next book in the series, albeit with my fingers crossed that things improve. I really want to see how things play out with a certain sister. Even better, most of the women I read it with had the same reaction and are planning on diving into the next one too.
