Josie Moore is in big trouble. After a few too many glasses of wine and tired of her mother’s constant disappointment, Josie tells what she thinks is a harmless lie—that she is sort of in a relationship with her childhood crush, firefighter Lincoln Bradford. The lie comes back to bite her when her mother moves back to town, and now Josie has to make the fantasy a reality.

Lincoln has a perfect plan to protect his heart—and rule number one is: don’t fall in love. There’s no such thing as happily ever after, especially when it comes to love. But he didn’t factor in Josie, his sister’s quirky, gorgeous best friend. He agrees to help her, with the understanding that they’re definitely not going to be anything more.

But every time they try to break up, they only end up tangled deeper together. Lincoln’s carefully laid plans are about to come crashing down…

The Firefighter’s Perfect Plan is a sweet friends-to-lovers through a deal romance. While I confess I’m not much into the whole friends to lovers plot, the fact that the guy is a sexy firefighter was what tipped me over.

While this is by no means a bad book, the story was simply too full of the “I don’t want to mess up our friendship so I’ll push you away now so I don’t hurt you but in effect, I’m hurting us both by doing this” diatribe. And I just can’t handle that for a whole freaking book.

Josie and Lincoln have been friends forever. Thanks to unemotional parents Josie was pretty much adopted by Lincoln’s family. And even when she was his little sister’s best friend, they always shared a special bond.

Lincoln doesn’t have the best record with relationships, and after his last breakup, he’s decided that love is just not worth the risk. Especially since he’s obviously not good at them. Josie, tired of her mother’s eternal disappointment, blurts that she’s seeing Lincoln. Unfortunately, her mother moves back to town and soon everyone knows about her “supposed” relationship. Forced to save face, she strikes a deal with Lincoln: she’ll help him out with a video to raise money for the Fire Station if he pretends to be her boyfriend and suck at it, so they can break up asap. Their lie starts to snowball and soon every time they schedule a breakup something gets in the way, and they get deeper into trouble.

I really liked both Josie and Lincoln. Both were nice, loving people always willing to help out. Josie was sweet and funny and Lincoln a total knight in shining armor. I loved how they were with each other when they relaxed and just went with their feelings. Unfortunately, the whole “friendship” issue kept getting in the way… Neither was open about what they were really feeling and I just kept wanting to conk them in the head with a blunt object to make them see sense.

I will say that I totally loved Lincoln’s granny, she was the bomb.

“ “Can I get you anything?”

“Yes. You can resolve your commitment issues, marry my grandson, and give me great grandchildren before I kick the oxygen habit and get fit for my halo.” ”

All in all, The Firefighter’s Perfect Plan is a sweet and nice romance, with some funny moments, witty banter and a couple of sexy kisses. Let me warn you now, there’s no steam to it, just some measly tingles (and not even a boner in sight). A pleasant read if you’re in the mood for a nice clean and pleasing read.
