A billion-dollar fashion empire, and it’s about to be mine…
I've worked a decade for this. I've sold my soul and my reputation. I've lived a lie, smiled for the cameras, and hated myself, all for this inheritance.
And then … she pops up. A mysterious heir with a rap sheet, combat boots, and a mouth that I want to pin shut with my—
It doesn’t matter. I’ve played this game for a decade. I can continue the charade a little longer, keep my hands to myself and her body out of my mind. I can keep my secret until the ink dries and everything is mine.
An Entertaining, Witty and Steamy Read
Hidden Seams appealed to me because of its setting in the fashion industry, the heroine’s involvement in organised crime, and the deception as well as the author being Ms Torre. Of course, it came at the same time I had about 50 billion other books I wanted to read. What a wonderful dilemma – too many amazing books to read and not enough time!
Not a lot is given away in the synopsis which added to mystique surrounding the story. It’s a tale of uptown meets downtown and discovering they have more in common than they bargain for. Romance wasn’t at the forefront of the story, it was loyalty and friendship that lead the way.
The story focused on the individuals rather than the fashion industry. While I was looking forward to reading about the fashion world, I thoroughly enjoyed what I read. It was all about keeping up appearances and upholding the image they created and dealing with temptation.
Marco came across relatively unscathed, happily going about his life until his surprise meeting with Avery. Avery was a fun and willing to put her body on the line to achieve what we set out to do. She’s in thick with dangerous influential people but they remain in the background. She was wealthy, but nowhere in the same calibre as Marco.
It blew me away the commitment Marco had gladly upheld over the last 10 years. I wanted to know how the 10 years was delicately balanced because 10 years is a long time to live like he did. That time span had me dwelling for a moment on how feasible it was. By the end I didn’t give my initial concerns a second thought. Between the hot scenes and attachments I formed with the characters, minor details paled as the main story took hold.
Together Marco and Avery make an entertaining story. I loved the way Avery skillfully swung the advantage to her side with finesse. She came across as the underdog which made her minor victories all the sweeter. People only see what they want to see but Avery and Marco were more astute than the people that surrounded them.
This is a story that started off slow but at around 20% took off and didn’t slow down until near the end. I went from doubting my choice of book to being blown away by a great entertaining story. I loved the witty banter and humour that was woven into the story and kept me amused. Hidden Seams was a fun and entertaining steamy story you won’t want to miss.
What I struggled with:
- The slow start
- Accepting Marco’s 10 year stint and how he handled it the way he did.
What I loved:
- The humor
- Strong secondary characters
- The statue
- His Staff
- Him dealing with his parents – what a crack up
- How friendship was portrayed
- A fast paced story
