I’m a freak, a misfit, an odd end.Abandoned and unloved. But my happiness is so close I can taste it.
Until he shows up.
Gorgeous, expensive, and all man.Sad brown eyes and a brilliant smile. And he wants me to go with him.
His intentions are hidden. His motives are unclear.Yet, I leave with him because there’s no happiness here.
What he promises feels too good to be true…A castle. A fortune. And horses too.
It’s too easy.Nothing in my life has ever been easy.
What’s the catch?There’s always a catch.
What a wonderful story that took me by surprise! My Torin sat on my iPad for a bit, and then it remained untouched on my currently reading shelf for a little longer. Then my curiosity got the better of me and I read the first chapter and from that moment I didn’t look back. I embraced the book and soon discovered it would be a contender for my favourite shelf.
When K Webster writes I now get a bit twitchy. Why? Well sometimes the tales take me beyond the shade of dark I relish. What keeps me coming back for more is her good storytelling ability. My persistence and knowing her ability to write well overrode my fear of reading some stuff I can do without. With this book though, I struck gold. It was so good!
I avoided reviews on this book when I picked up on the consensus that the best approach was to go into this book blind. My opinion is of the same ilk. Experiencing this story by discovering first hand whom and what makes the characters tick is what made reading this book so captivating.
In most of my reviews, I will talk about the hero and heroine. For this review, I am going to go no further than saying they were complex and complement each other brilliantly. The steamy moments were scattered as the bigger story of unpacking the definition of love and seeing it in everyday life took precedence.
I had no need to reach for the Kleenex which surprised me and was one of the reasons I was initially hesitant to choose this as my next read. The general consensus is to have the Kleenex close by before you embark on My Torin but I don’t recall tearing up at all. Yes, there are some heart-wrenching moments along with situations that will get a rise out of the hardest person but it didn’t get me sobbing. The story combines suspense, survival, and sweetness within the covers but this story is much more than a romance, it is a love story. Humanity is at the core of this story with the love in this story extending far beyond romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed every beautiful moment of this unique story of love and am so happy I read it <3
