After a tragedy, Finn Hollis escapesinto the swamp to be alone. That is until Sawyer Dixon shows up, all SCORCHING HOT innocence, claiming she owns the land less than fifty feet from his front door.

Sawyer gets under his SKIN, but even worse? She makes him CRAVE things. Things Finn hasn’t thought about in a very long time.

Finn WANTS Sawyer gone.Almost as much as he wants her in his BED.

The swamp is about to get a whole lot HOTTER.

The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier is LIVE!

By LilyThe Outskirts follows the story of a young woman who breaks free from her oppressive, cruel father to begin life anew. Armed with an unexpected leaving home gift from her mother, she escapes the clutches of her father and their congregation to an out of the way place she knows nothing about except its name. On the run, Sawyer refuses to look back as she begins her adventure into the unknown.

In the small town she meets two key people, one the local police officer, Josh (a nickname she acquired at school) who takes her under her wing just after Sawyer has nearly been run over by Finn, another notable resident. Through Finn and Josh a circle of friendship slowly emerges. Each of them has their issues, nothing major but enough to hold them back from living life to the fullest. Together they help each other get their lives back on track.

I loved getting to know Finn, Sawyer, Josh and Miller. It drew on the friendship bonds Ms. Frazier depicts so well in her other books I’ve read. This time, however, while the plot has dark origins, the story itself was a lot tamer than I expected. It didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the story. If anything it was a fresh approach from a favourite author.

Sawyer’s story is far from an easy going out of town escape. Her scant plans are thwarted by circumstances beyond her control. The relationship between her and Finn is dogged by both their pasts. Thankfully their hot chemistry was steering the romance.  It was a relief to discover Sawyer’s inexperience didn’t come across as a boring facet of the story, more a consequence of her upbringing.

Being part one of The Outskirts Duet, I wasn’t surprised when a revelation surfaces in the final chapter. It was totally left of centre and not at all what I thought would happen. How they had not encountered it sooner was a minor miracle considering The Outskirts is such a small town astounded me. I have a sneaking suspicion life is going to become a little complicated for this small town and I am eagerly awaiting for The Outlies to land on my Kindle!
