The light of the future can only be found by stepping out of the darkness of the past...

After leaving her marriage, Juliette Walker wants to accomplish many new things, but meeting a new man certainly isn't part of her plan.

Plagued with struggles over her past, she seeks the advice of a professional. But after unloading her most intimate thoughts to the handsome stranger with dark hair and glasses at a friend's party, she discovers he isn't the man she thinks he is.

Although Juliette comes into Mark Hine's life like an unexpected tornado, he finds himself intrigued by the bundle of energy who spills her secrets in a drunken barrage. Despite swearing off dating permanently since the tragic death of his fiancee, he keeps finding excuses to spend time with the single mom who makes him laugh and brings him out of his shell.

In the aftermath of Juliette's most humiliating experience to date, she's convinced Mark has permanently friend-zoned her, until the moment it becomes shockingly clear she couldn't be more wrong.

But will demons of the past threaten to derail the opportunity for love? Or can two damaged hearts overcome their painful histories to find a future of happiness together?

Reviewed by SparklesI absolutely adored this book. Show Me Something had the perfect balance between sweet romance, sexy shenanigans and heartfelt situations.

Juliette is clawing her way out of a marriage that turned bad and is emotionally stuck. She accepts her friends’ help and moves away from home while her divorce is settled. She ends up in the apartment across from Mark. Mark the lawyer, not to be confused with Mark the shrink she believes him to be at a party where she spills all her problems in a hilarious – if a bit embarrassing – case of verbal diarrhea.

Mark, the lawyer, is stuck in his own tragic past. After losing his fiancée he’s been romantically unavailable for years, but Juliette and her little boy Tristan start to slowly make him come out of his shell.

I found Juliette hilariously charming. She had no filter which made her a straight shooter, but at the same time she was not insensitive or mean. She loved her baby dearly and was a great mom. While I’m not fond of insecurity in my heroines in Juliette’s case was understandable and as she actually deals with it, it didn’t drive me crazy.

“I tried not to think of the love of my life as a total cock block. Bad, bad mommy.”

Now, Mark… well, the silent ones are really the ones to look out for! He was shy and reserved, and at first came off as a little socially awkward. But holy moly when he comes out to play, does he know how to! With the shy and proper lawyer in public and the kinky alpha in private combo he was perfect.

I loved how their relationship was gradual and careful, and the way Mark bonded with Tristan was absolutely beautiful to witness. I was majorly ticked with Mark and his issues, and though understandable I really wanted to go at him with a pitchfork in Juliette’s behalf.

I wish the situation with Juliette’s ex had been expanded on a bit, as well as the resolution which came off to me as a bit too convenient. Not to mention the absurdity with the whole in-laws drama. I still could totally overlook all this as the witty dialogue, the cute little boy and their sexy chemistry kept me smiling, laughing and enjoying the book.

While this can totally be read as a standalone, the back story to all the other couples mentioned would seriously ramp up the enjoyment. Show Me Something is an excellent addition to this series, and I completely loved the epilogue. I’m eagerly waiting to see what comes next from Ms. Bondurant.
