Benny, broken, hurting, and alone
Lost his dolly, his love, his home.
Injured and searching, reborn anew,
He finds himself befriended by one who’s true.
Learning about the world, urges, and lust.
Finding a new future, a new dolly, is a must.
Then out of old pain, fresh prospects come to life,
Benny’s sick mind summons him, so his hand takes the knife.
Have you ever been so lost that you became a shadow? Lurking but not living. Existing in the background where no one notices you.
My doll betrayed me, killed me in more ways than she realized.
I’m watching, waiting, wanting.
One day soon she’ll give me back what she took away…
it’s funny how life works that way.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
My mind has been taunted, twisted and tarnished…
Here I am again, wondering what possessed me to think I could survive the darkness of Benny’s warped mind. Then I discovered Benny wasn’t the only master of horror I would encounter in his quest to find his new doll. I doubt I will be ever able to look a doll or a doll outfit again without cringing.
There’s no way I could imagine the dark depraved path this story was going to take me on. Yes, there’s a warning or a challenge if you may, introducing Pretty New Doll. I read it and was ready for a heart racing thriller/suspenseful read. Nothing could have prepared me for the situations Benny took part in or his obsession with the girl he wanted to be his new doll.
The plot twists were far from what I predicted. I struggled with all of the aspects as they arose. My Dark Queen EDGy crown became a tad tight and uncomfortable early on in this book. I am not going to include triggers, the situations I struggled with I would hope all readers would balk at, because if not humanity will be a hopeless cause. When I reached out to share my struggles with Spice, she lamented I said all this the last time LOL.
My biggest hurdle I encountered was there was nothing left to the imagination, with each scene being described in graphic detail. The nature of what transpired was gruesome. I would have enjoyed the suspenseful aspects more if a fade to black approach replaced the horrific accounts of senseless cruelty inflicted upon victims.
Yet, even with the horrible, unthinkable details I am still retreating from, I’m still considering continuing with this series. There’s sufficient hope of justice for Jade and I have a inexplicable curiosity that is desperate to know how this story will be wrapped up. Pretty New Doll definitely went beyond my comfort zone. Even if you have read the previous books in this series, this one will be a challenge. My ability to rate this book was a quandary that had me in knots, l because I can’t say this was a book I enjoyed, but it did keep me turning pages.

About Ker Dukey
My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.
I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.
When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
