Crenshaw Jacobson knew exactly what he wanted out of life, and he was determined to get it. And when he laid eyes on the innocent beautiful new bartender Waverlee Armstrong, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was going to have her in his bed - and his life - for many nights to come.
Waverlee took pride in maintaining a strict control on her life. After all, she was the only one who she could count on. Wrapping her mind around sharing her body with another person was more than she could manage.
That was, until she met *him.* Now, it seemed like every one of her fantasies revolved around what sinful delights Crenshaw Jacobson could teach her virgin body.
What happens when their one-night-stand becomes one more night?
28K, standalone, HEA, written as part of Fiona Davenport's Sex, Vows, and Babies Kindle World.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
One More Night had a very Fiona Davenport feel to it, which fits as it is part of their Sex, Vows and Babies Kindle World.
Waverlee hasn’t had a nice upbringing. More of a burden to an immature mother that leaves the minute she turns 18, she’s been working two jobs and going to college full time. She doesn’t have time for unnecessary stuff… like boys and dating.
Shaw has a successful construction business, he has the house, the truck, pretty much everything he set as goals had been accomplished. Now the only thing he is missing is the girl. And the moment he sees Waverlee she becomes his.
Now Shaw only needs to convince her to give him the time of day, other than to serve his beer and take his order. And when she finally caves and agrees to one night together, it takes every trick he knows to keep her with him for One More Night.
Waverlee had deep trust issues which were completely acceptable after the way she was raised. She was a sweet, hardworking girl that didn’t want to lean on somebody just to be left hanging later on. While I appreciated her determination to be independent when her drive turned to stubbornness she risked losing everything.
“I don’t care if I have to tie her to me and drug her, I’m putting a ring on her finger and marrying that woman.”
Shaw was a yummy, alpha hot guy. Knowing what he wanted and who he wanted, made him a very possessive and bossy guy. He was really sweet and tender with Waverlee, though the constant use of “darlin’” threw me for a loop.
While I enjoyed the story and the characters, the writing contained a little too much inner musings for my liking. At some point, I was singing “a little less conversation, a little more action” in my head. One More Night is a sexy, sweet and mildly OTT romance everyone in the Fiona Davenport wagon will love.
Rating: 3.5 “kisses a girl dreams about” Stars
Shivering against him as she parted her lips to speak, Waverlee moaned as his tongue swept forward, stealing the opportunity to deepen their kiss. And holy moly, the man could kiss. And not just any old kiss either. It was the-steal-your-breath-I-can’t-live-without-his-touch-because-nothing-else-in-the-world-matters kind of kiss a girl spends her life dreaming about. Their tongues danced together for long minutes as everything else faded away. The people. The noise. Everything took a backseat to the fierce passion Shaw created with a simple touch of his mouth to hers.
Forcing herself to find her voice when Shaw lifted his mouth from hers to take a deep breath, Waverlee flashed a furtive glance up at his darkened eyes. “Wow,” she breathed shakily, clutching handfuls of his light blue dress shirt in her fists as the world seemed to spin at warp speed, “I..I…don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that before,” she whispered, the words catching in her throat as his finger swept against her lower lip.
“Then you best hold on real tight to me, baby, ‘cause I’m just getting started,” he replied, dropping his head to steal another deep, wet kiss from her lips as he curved one big hand around her neck, wrapping her silky hair around his fist and tugging gently.
What is the Sex, Vows, and Babies Kindle World?
