It's been thirteen years since Hope Moore left Devil's Falls, land of sexy cowboys and bad memories. Back for the weekend, she has no intention of seeing the man she never got over…or the two of them getting down and dirty. It's just a belated goodbye, right? No harm, no foul.
Until six weeks later, when her pregnancy test comes back positive…
Daniel Rodriguez hasn't forgiven himself for how things went down with Hope all those years ago. He knows she's better off without him, but when she shows up on his doorstep, panicking because she's pregnant with his baby, he can't help seeing it as a chance to make up for the past.
Too bad Hope has no intention of going along with his plans.

EDGy Review

Reviewed by SparklesAfter reading the previous stories in this series, I was really intrigued by Daniel and Hope’s possible reunion. So when I read an “Oops… a baby!” on the blurb for A Fool for You, I was over myself with anticipation. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t really like the second-chance romance trope.

Daniel and Hope had a tragic past: Daniel blames himself for the accident that cost Hope’s big brother’s life and a scholarship-losing knee injury to her. Unable to carry the guilt of so much, Daniel broke up with her and they went their separate ways.

Thirteen years later and Daniel has been unable to move on, from the guilt and from Hope. Becoming almost a recluse, he works his ranch, does the required social visits to keep him out of a family intervention, and wallows in his self-blame.

Hope had made it her mission to bounce back from the accident that took everything from her: her brother, her scholarship, her ability to run, and worst of all, the love of her life. Everything else she could have dealt with if only Daniel hadn’t broken every promise he ever made to her.

So now she’s back home on some long overdue business, and one encounter with Daniel is all it takes for all their old feelings to come out. One very passionate encounter and 6 weeks later, a positive pregnancy test will set both their lives upside down.

Daniel sees this as the second chance he never felt he deserved, but Hope is not so eager to go down that same road. Hope has more than one hang up in need of sorting and so does Daniel. Can he get over himself and want her for her, or will he keep on piling self-appointed blame? Can Hope really open up her heart to him again, or will she keep expecting him to bail as he did before?

I really enjoyed both our main characters. Daniel went into uber-caveman mode and it was hilarious to see him clash with Hope’s independent streak. I did find his unwillingness to work through his issues really annoying, and I wanted to bitch-slap him on more than one occasion to see if I could make him see reason.

Hope had a lot going on for her, she didn’t let anyone get her down, not even herself. She rebuilt her life approaching most situations head-on. On the other hand, her constant need to prove to everyone her capacity of handling everything by herself ended up getting on my nerves.

Their chemistry was ridiculously hot, they were really sweet together, and I really enjoyed reading their story.  I was going for a great rating when the book suddenly ended.

My actual note at this moment was: “What in the actual fuck kind of ending is this??!!!!” No epilogue? What the hell? I was all hyped up on this fantastic love story of redemption and second chances and I don’t even get to meet the baby??? *waterworks* *three-year-old-tantrum*

Rating: 4 “I need to meet the baby” Stars
