I have my hands full taking care of my little sister and covering for my uncle as ranch foreman. The last thing I need is a Texas princess like Callie Llewellyn getting up in my business and messing with my head.
All I can think of is getting up close and personal with those curves of hers. And being on the edge of discovery makes our quick-and-dirty encounters twice as hot. And that’s all they are—quick and dirty—there’s nothing deeper going on here.
There’s only one rule to keeping my job and a roof over my sister’s head: stay away from the boss’s granddaughter. But I’m not always great at following the rules.

EDGy Review

Reviewed Sparkles 1Holy Guacamole, Batman! Can you say hot?? Because Ms. Havens certainly can write it! Branded was the unexpectedly super hot story about Cole, acting foreman of a ranch and Callie, the granddaughter of said ranch’s owner. This might sound cliché-ish but it didn’t feel that way to me.

While this is a very-young-new-adult type of story, I’m not sure the author ever actually says the MC’s age, letting me think of them as older and not feeling like a perv for lusting after Cole. Also, there wasn’t a lot of young people overwrought angsty drama, making this an even better read for me.

Callie has been raised by her very successful grandparent’s, meaning she has never wanted for anything. To some, this would make her a spoiled princess but she was actually a great person. She was open, down to earth, kind and loving and she didn’t put up with snobbish attitudes.

Finishing her first year of college, she goes back home to visit. She is not the same carefree girl she was before as she’s carrying a heavy weight on her shoulders. One that she doesn’t feel she can share with them. So when the hunkiest ranch hand ever picks her up at the airport, she decides a distraction is most certainly in order.

Only Cole won’t give her the time of day. Fiercely attracted to Callie at first sight, he’s only focus has to be keeping his uncle’s job until he is well enough to get back to it. Being in charge of his baby sister, he can’t allow himself the luxury of screwing everything up just because he is horny. Especially when the one thing his uncle told him was to “stay away from the boss’ granddaughter”.

Soon though, their attraction is too much to resist, and being the two consenting adults they are, they embark in a scorching hot affair that will get them both what they want. Or so they think, because before long, their feelings for each other begin to change.

I loved how both Callie and Cole get to grow during their story. Cole was an exceptionally good hero. Bossy, alpha, protective and responsible of his sister and well, sexy as fuck. The guy certainly knew how to handle himself in the bedroom…and the barn, and the truck and the shower stall… yeah, you get my meaning.

“Let’s be clear, you’re mine. I’m a possessive asshole, and I want everyone to know.”

“Yes, but you’re my possessive asshole. And I’m going to make sure all those ho bags in the rest of the world know you’re mine, because I’m a possessive bitch, and I want everyone to know it.”

I really enjoyed their relationship and how it developed. Callie’s friend, grandparents and Cole’s sister were fantastic side characters who helped give more depth to their story. Branded was a scorching hot, engaging and immensely enjoyable read and I can’t wait to get to read more from Ms. Havens.
