Mythic’s newest citizen, Dr. Ana McKinnon, has a secret.

No one knows; not even the Werewolf pack that has taken her under their protection. When Ana unexpectedly receives invitation to Mythic’s most prestigious event: a masquerade ball hosted by the reclusive Vlane Masterson, she doesn’t want to go. She only accepts when she realizes that not going will draw more unwanted attention to herself than going.

It’s a good plan. At least until the master vampire himself finds her alone and decides to sample the goods.

Vlane Masterson awakens the morning after his annual soirée to find that something changed him, utterly. The vampires are understandably concerned; anything that can render such a powerful being vulnerable can upset the delicate balance of power and fragile alliances between the various preternatural, Extraordinary creatures that call Mythic home.

The last thing he remembers is partaking of a particularly lovely creature dressed as a legendary Faerie. But who is she? And why can’t he stop thinking about her? Where could she be … his mysterious Faerie?

EDGy Review

Reviewed Sparkles 1I’ve found Abbie Zanders’ stories to be very entertaining, fun, sweet, often suspense-ish and sometimes downright hot. I received an advance copy of Faerie Godmother, and no, I can’t say how I got it or I’d have to silence you with my ninja skills. I was one very happy camper since I could read it right away. Picture a hyper kid on a massive sugar rush… multiply that by ten and you’ll get close to my level excitement.

What I liked most about this story is how Ms. Zanders takes the paranormal genre and gives it her own spin. With all the vampire, were-shifters, etc out there, it’s easy to start and go “oh, another PNR story” but I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this new series.

Ana is a very caring and gentle soul and is currently working as a veterinarian for a pack of werewolves after saving one of them from the brink of death. She doesn’t have anyone but these wolves who have taken her almost as one of their own. Matt, the pack’s alpha, and his sister are especially fond of her and Ana of them.

Vlane is a very powerful and imposing type of man, but when he first came on the scene, he was in a very uncommon situation to find a vampire in. When all returned to normal, since he had no recollection of meeting Ana, he was determined to learn how the situation came to pass.

From the very beginning is easy to see that Ana has a secret, and a big one, that might put her in danger. When the local vampires start sniffing around her, Matt’s pack is not too happy. Mythic might be a place where all type of extraordinaries coexist, but their truce is a very feeble one.

When Ana and Vlane finally get together (she played very hard to get) it was lovely to see a centuries old vampire fumbling with the simplicity that characterized Ana, who was pure in every way. Even though the relationship development between Vlane and Ana followed the expected arch of its circumstances, I wish they’d have more time to get to know one another and becoming a couple.

While I really liked Vlane and can totally see how he and Ana were perfect for each other, I thought Matt completely stole the show. The story ended up having a very slight love triangle feel to it and for a brief time I was totally team Matt. Fortunately Ms. Zanders has already told me that Matt’s story is coming so I’ll just have to patiently wait for it to arrive.

Now, I love me some HEA+epilogue and this one was totally cute and I just wanted to hug everybody. Faerie Godmother was a wonderful read that I enjoyed very much and I’m very much looking forward to the whole series!
