By SpiceWhen Candace Blevins let me know that she had a Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club novella in the Ridin’ Dirty: An Outlaw Author Anthology, I one-clicked it pretty freaking fast.  Candace’s book was great and well worth the .99 cost, although it’s coming out July 15 as a single novella. Otherwise, there were a couple of decent books, but almost half of the offerings included were cliffhangers and/or teasers. Except for the shining star that Nix ended up being and a couple of other exceptions, I was mostly disappointed with the rest.

In the interest of time, I’m going to just do super quick reviews of each book.

Painted Memories by Blue Remy: Nothing about this one worked for me. This wasn’t really a story, mainly just a memory that ended with a cliffhanger. The love interest didn’t work for me at all. Wraith came across as a grade a jerk, and really just threw Ella in the deep end. It also was in dire need of an editor. 1 Star

The Devil by Kim Jones: Another cliffhanger that basically boiled downed to her being off limits to the club for some reason, but he does her anyways. Yawn. 1.5 Stars

Twisted Penny by MariaLisa deMora: More of a teaser than a novella, Twisted and Penny had me intrigued enough to want more. It was decently written even if the scenario was implausible. Really wish it was a complete story. 2.5 Stars

Deception by Alana Sapphire:  Many will love this book. For me, it is the perfect example of why I don’t usually read new adult books unless people I know and love highly recommend them. The lack of maturity and communication made for lots of unnecessary angst. Other than that, this was a decent book. 3 Stars

Savage Rebel by Kathleen Kelly: A bit ambitious for a novella but at least it was a whole book and it was a decent read. Unfortunately, with so many POV’s it felt almost like a 70’s TV show script and a totally improbable one at that where even though you are dealing with the mob and 1%ers, no one ever gets permanently damaged. 3 Stars

Daniel by Geri Glenn: Another full story, it was kind of cute if you could get past the TSTL heroine. She was looking for her missing brother who was stupid enough to join the Crips gang. The Hero is a police sergeant who wants to help her. Cue up the insta-love. 3 Stars

Nickel by Winter Travers: Another freaking cliffhanger involving a super shy RN and a biker. Sigh. 2 Stars

Nix by Candace Blevins: Hands down the best book of the anthology. The story of a wolf shifter who falls for a deer shifter. Neither was looking for a relationship, but they got one anyway. Nix was an alpha just like I like them, but willing to compromise and do what’s best for his woman. Tiff was strong and brave despite being a deer and willing to do whatever it took to live life on her terms and not be ruled by her animal’s instincts. My only complaint was that I wanted it to be longer. 4.5 Stars

Red Dog by Nicole James: This one was better than most in the anthology. I am familiar with the Evil Dead MC series so was glad to see it included. I had a hard time with Mary taking off on Red Dog without even communicating with him, plus I wanted to see Rosalie get what she deserved making this just an okay read. 3 Stars

Wayward Rider by K. Renee: A complete, decently written story but I didn’t like the heroine at all. She breaks up with the love of her life because he’s a biker then she becomes a stripper. Yeah. 3 Stars

Catching Wild by Gwendolyn Grace: I liked this one. Girl makes horrid life choices then pays dearly. She fights to make something of her life not only for her kids but for herself. 3.5 Stars

Beautifully Twisted by Colbie Kay: Another cliffhanger that didn’t make sense to me. 1.5 Stars

Kiss and Tell by Shyla Colt: Very sweet. An afraid to commit older man doesn’t realize what he’s got until it’s gone. Not really a biker book so it didn’t go with the others. 4 Stars
