Lassoing the Virgin Mail Order Bride by Alexa Riley
Published by Self-published on March 17, 2016
When Clare Stevens walked onto the McCallister ranch, she expected her life to be a certain way. She was the mail-order bride of the owner, and she was to fulfill her duties. Clean the house, cook for his men, and warm his bed at night. What she didn't expect was the beefy cowboy who walked in and literally swept her off her feet.
Cash McCallister didn't have time to date and find a wife. So a mail-order bride seemed the easiest way to find a partner. He thought he'd made a mistake until he laid eyes on the little piece of sunshine that lit up his life. He never imagined a true love like this. He never knew an obsession could take hold so tightly.
When drama hits the farm and their fast love is threatened, can Clare and Cash hold it together?
Warning: This is literally as cliché as it sounds...and just as awesome. It's country living with high-calorie foods and easy sunsets. Come sit on the porch and stay a while. You'll like what you see.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
“All I could think from the moment I laid eyes on you was that I had to get you down the aisle and tied to me. Then that wasn’t enough. Now all I can think about is putting a baby in you.
I even stole your birth control pills that first night you passed out. You’d left them in the bathroom. Flushed them right down the toilet so there would be no finding them.”
Yes, Lassoing the Virgin Mail Order Bride is as insta-obsession as any other Alexa Riley story, and I loved it.
Cowboy and ranch owner Cash has no interest in complications, he has enough on his hands working his ranch from sun up to sun down. It’s true, his house could use a bit of a woman’s touch and having a woman who could cook for him and his 16 ranch hands… and maybe even keep him company at night… he needs the perfect convenience match. Where could he find such a woman? Well through a mail order bride service, of course! He didn’t even care what Clare, his bride to be, looked like, as long as she could handle his ranch needs. It was good luck fortune smiled on him.
Clare hasn’t had the easiest life as an only child to a single mother, she grew up on a farm helping her mom, the cook, in the kitchen. Now alone and without many prospects or skills she decides to sign up as a bride-for-order. She gave up any dreams of romance in her life in exchange for security, but it seems that fate had good things in store for her yet.
As always, one look is all it takes for Cash and Clare to fall for each other, and each interaction and moment they spend with each other just fortifies what they feel.
There some suspense (very mild), hot sexy shenanigans, a shy virgin and a sexy cowboy with the finesse of a bull in a china store (I actually saw that one in a Myth Busters episode, and they needed to put like 5 bulls running around the confined space to actually break something…) that will have his work cut out for him making Clare realize that his farm and by his side is where she is meant to be.
A sweet tiny heroine and a rough bossy cowboy made this a great Alexa Riley® .
