All's fair in lust and seduction...
Lark Warren can never stay one person for too long, so when her past starts to catch up to her, she hops the first bus out of DC, steals a new name, and goes deep into hiding in New Orleans. Unfortunately, all it takes is the wrong set of eyes to blow her cover. Enter Vaughn—the man she once let get too close to her real self.
Ex-Navy SEAL Vaughn Wilde has one objective: drive Lark back to DC to face charges for identity theft—which would be easier if he could forget the three lust-filled weeks he shared with her before she disappeared. With each passing mile, he can’t ignore the heat still sparking between them…or the fact he has led her enemies right to her.
Lark can’t stay with Vaughn, not when it will put him in the crosshairs of the dangerous man she’s spent the last five years running from. But Vaughn is determined to keep her safe—even if it means she’ll run off with his heart all over again.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This is my second book in the Wilde Security series. Running Wilde has a great balance between action and sexy times, suspense and romance-while-running-for-your-life. Vaughn (one of the twin Wilde brothers) has been obsessed with finding Lark since she pulled a disappearance act on him and one of his sister-in-laws. Since then he found out she’s been changing identities for some time now but he can’t quite work out who she was originally and where she is now.
Lark now known as Sage has been running for her life for the last five years, she never wanted to stick around so much as when she met Vaughn, but the past has that pesky habit of catching up with you wherever you go, and she had no choice but to flee.
Vaughn has been in a tailspin since Lark left, and now that he has a lead on her whereabouts he won’t let her out of his sights… but he has now caught the attention of those who look for Lark/Sage and together they’ll try to get back to DC… but getting there in one piece will not be as easy as they’d thought.
While this can be read as a standalone (we do get a retelling of their time together throughout the series) you’ll get much more enjoyment knowing the story of all the other brothers and their women.
Vaughn was a great H, former SEAL now PI, he is tough, alpha, bossy, hunky perfection; and though he tries to lie to himself as to the reason for his obsessive search for Lark we all know he found his girl and he’ll do anything to get her.
I kind of had a love/hate relationship with Lark, at points her actions were really selfish and self-serving, and yes what she went through and how she grew up were not pretty and I really felt for her, but she still was thinking of herself and letting her fear drive her a lot of the time. Fortunately, before the end she redeems herself, so I ended up liking her… it just took us some time to get there.
I’m really enjoying this series and I can’t wait to get to read what’s happening with the eldest Wilde, which I’m assuming will be next book in the series.
