I lie to survive.
Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control.
Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart.
I kill for a living.
Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie. But that ends now.I've played her game for far too long, but not anymore. Now I think it's time we play mine.
Perfect Chaos is a spinoff series of Nashoda Rose’s Tear Asunder series and they are so closely related, I kind of wish I had done a re-read of Tear Asunder before diving into this one.
In Tear Asunder, Deck and Georgie weren’t favorites of mine. I didn’t dislike them, I just didn’t connect well with them so I didn’t pick this one up for a long time. This was a definite mistake because even though we’re left with a Happy For Now ending at least for Deck and Georgie’s relationship, we know shit is fixing to hit the fan for everyone (not the Tear Asunder folks, they are fine – I think).
I adored Deck in this book. Amidst all the chaos in his life he was watching Georgie, who he loved but felt he could never have, seemingly self-destruct. You ended up feeling his pain and my heart went out to him. As the book progresses he realizes things with Georgie aren’t what they seem and he has much bigger problems with a possibly unbeatable enemy he didn’t even know he had. I ended up absolutely loving him. As the truth of what he is up against unfolds, he never quits and never gives up on Georgie.
Georgie has secrets and she had everyone fooled. She’s stronger than anyone gave her credit for, yet more vulnerable than anyone ever imagined. I’m not sure I felt like her story was believable, at least pertaining to the reasons why she was doing what she was doing. Then again, this didn’t keep me from absolutely inhaling this book.
Kai had a huge impact in the story and I just know what we find out about him in the future is going to break my heart. I can’t freaking wait!
There were a couple things that made me scrunch up my nose and think “plot hole!!”, but nothing that ruined things for me. There was so much going on, I was able to compartmentalize things. It helped that nothing was a big enough deal to make me want to toss my Ipad.
Shadowy organizations, mystery, intrigue, violence, not knowing who the bad guys are, this book had it all. Add in all the alpha badass deliciousness that we have to look forward to as we get to know Deck’s men and it looks like this will be a series I’m going to love.
