1 notorious 1%er
1 innocent trapped in an impossible situation
1 viscous crime lord
3 people who aren't who they appear to be
= one big (bloody) mess.
Reign is no stranger to the criminal underbelly and hard life, but when a random woman comes (literally) crashing into his life- learning things she has no business knowing, and bringing with her the weight of the city's biggest skin trader, the "hard life" starts to take on a whole new meaning.
Wow! I’m not sure how to review this book. While reading it, there was so much OTT craziness going on, I kept hearing that late night TV Ad announcer saying “But wait, there’s more!” as some new twist would present itself. One of my comments as I was reading was “It’s like some dark, twisty, whacked out space opera but with bikers!”.
I can’t really say a lot without spoilering the book. Summer is on the run from a notorious skin trader who kept her hostage and tortured her until she was able to escape in the middle of a hurricane. She falls into Reigns lap, insta-love happens alpha biker style and the chaos and mayhem begins.
Like any space opera, there are plot holes you could fly the Millennium Falcon through. At times really dark, it had so many unbelievable twists and turns I laughed a couple of times, but in an uncomfortable “Holy Crap, I didn’t see that coming” way. Through all this, I just kept reading because it just sucks you in. It has triggers galore and lots and lots of flashbacks so if you have issues with that, you should skip this one.
If you like dark, gritty biker reads and don’t mind ignoring plot holes and over the top craziness going on, this is an entertaining read. I hope the author writes more books about this crazy group of people, especially Cash, Wolf, and even Lo.
