When fantasy and reality collide...
There's nothing like a near death experience to make a guy reassess his life. And that's exactly what nightclub owner Logan McCabe decides to do, starting with looking up the girl he spent one wild night with eleven years ago, right before his life turned to crap. He spent a year fantasizing about her. Now he's ready to see how reality matches up.
Imogen Parker is a perfectionist. She's only strayed from the straight and narrow once in her life, on her eighteenth birthday. It was supposed to be one wild night with a totally unsuitable man before she settled into her sensible future. Instead it changed her life forever.
Logan might still be the sexiest man Imogen has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she's his fantasy girl, but what he doesn't know is she's also the mother of his ten-year old daughter...
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Holy kink, Batman! Does this woman know how to write a dirty talker!
Abby and Logan had one night of fantastic sex when they were 18 and 21. The next day Logan got himself into some trouble and was sent to prison for a year. He spent those 365 nights fantasizing about Abby and all the things he would love to do to her, but when he finally got out he wasn’t sure the girl of that night could measure up to his fantasies, so he decided to keep the fantasy instead of the possibility of the real thing.
Ten years later, after a quasi near death experience he and some friends got to talking about their lives regrets, and he decided to finally look up the one girl he had spent the last decade comparing all other women to.
To say Abby was shocked when she realized the hot bad boy on her doorstep is the same guy she had the one-night-stand is an understatement. But it seems even after a decade her body reacts the same way to all the male perfection that is Logan as that one first time. Even when all she wants is tell him they have a daughter together her hormones take her reason hostage and all she can do is sigh and… you know, scream his name.
His Fantasy Girl is the story of Logan and Abby actually getting to know each other (and not only in the biblical sense… though they do get reacquainted) and how to be the parents their daughter needs. They’ll have to learn to control this crazy chemistry they share because Logan doesn’t do commitment and he certainly doesn’t fit into Abby’s controlled and meticulously planned life.
But as we all know from firsthand experience (and reading lots and lots of romance books) things never go as planned, so soon they are both struggling to not get too attached to each other and affect their ability to be there for little Jenny.
This was a very entertaining read. Logan has one filthy, filthy mouth. And an even dirtier imagination… let’s just say he was very thorough in his fantasizing endeavors.
Abby was a bit of an uptight twat at times. It took me some time to warm up to her and the way she viewed the world. But when we learn of the way she grew up (nothing terrible, swear), we get a little understanding, and I loved how Logan got to loosen her up a bit.
Though the story is set in London, to me it didn’t come through. Maybe I was expecting everyone to speak like they were in a Jane Austen novel, I don’t know, but it threw me a little.
This was a sweet (the family side) and super hot (their fantasy playing) read. I’m not at all opposed to getting to know what the stories of Logan’s two friends will be.
