Who needs Mr. Right when you can have the perfect Mr. Wrong?
Ryder Diamond-the town's golden boy-doesn't have time for taking chances, let alone love. Against his better judgment, he lets his buddies set him up on a blind date with a girl who's only passing through town. But temporary or not, Whitney James sets fire to desires he can't control.
Before they know it, Ryder and Whitney are in a supply closet, drowning in lust. She's only in town for the summer-what better way to spend it than in the arms of Mr. Perfect? Except, she's wild and free, and he's Mr. Stability. Which means he may as well be Mr. Wrong.
And her new job? It's with Ryder's sister.
Sex and the inability to keep their hands off each other are the only things they have in common. But this little hook-up has "disaster" written all over it...and the only way Ryder can save his reputation is by avoiding the sweet little firecracker who could ruin it all.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Hot damn! For someone so worried about his public image, Ryder really pushed it with all the sex in public places…
Ryder, the hunky builder, is Mr. Respectable having a construction company with employees who depend on him. He also has his family’s good name to uphold as one of the founding families.
Whitney is just passing through; she’ll only stay a couple of months working at a diner, saving up for the next step of her journey. Being by herself after losing her sister, she has no one to answer to and goes where the road takes her, experiencing life and every possibility… as long as it’s not permanent.
Thanks to a mistaken identity “date”, they end up having the hottest sex of their lives. Imagine Ryder’s surprise when he walks into his sister’s diner for breakfast and it’s served by the hot chick he had one-night of crazy monkey sex with… double crap! Her kind of wild was fantastic for that one night, but it doesn’t suit his public boring persona.
He’ll soon find out that neither of them can keep their hands off each other. They end up in a relationship where he puts in place ground rules, determined to keep his distance and self-control. That is until Whitney makes him snap and they have wild sex again.
Now I won’t lie and say the whole boundaries-and-control-because-what-will-everyone-in-town-think-of-it didn’t drive me crazy. For a hot H this kind of…. self-consciousness was kind of unappealing. That and him taking crap from one of the town’s big names all for the sake of his reputation, family name and future business made me want to take his man card away on more than one occasion. But then again he had mad skills in the bedroom, and against his truck, and in the lake, and against the wall, and in the… well, you get what I mean.
Whitney was a girl trying to find her sense of place in her life, after losing the only person she’d ever had. Conditioned by a life of moving around she was used to not making attachments, and at the same time scared to death of caring for someone because if you lose them, it hurts like a mother.
Will they get over themselves and their hang-ups or let a once in a lifetime chance at love slip through their fingers?
As I said, Chasing Mr. Wrong has lots of scorching shenanigans going on… everywhere, which makes up some way for the slow pace of the lengthy internal monologues they have. Chasing Mr. Wrong was a nice, easy read and I wouldn’t mind hearing the stories of this town’s inhabitants in future books.
