By SpiceThere are so many great series out there that we’ve been toying with the idea of doing series reviews for a while now. I can’t think of a better series to start with than Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chicks. When we did an EDGy poll amongst ourselves Rock Chick won for our favorite KA series. It has action, lots of sexy times, kickass alphas galore, quirky heroines, and some of our favorite supporting characters of all time. Several of the books tackle some tough situations like abusive relationships, survival after a rape, tough upbringings, even teenage runaways, but it’s done in such a way that it is respectful of the topic. I can’t tell you how many times I went from laughing myself to tears, then crying and saying to myself “KA gets it. That’s exactly how I felt.” Reading these books you will laugh, cry, want to throw your e-reader across the room, but above all you will fall in love with this group of women and the men who fall in love with them.

Usually, I go through a little process to come up with an average rating. Not so with any book in this series.  5 stars all the way for every single book in the series.

To help you keep all the characters straight through all eight books, I put together a character list which tells you which books they appear in, and for most of the characters, actual quotes from the books describing them.
Rock Chick Series Character List

As all good Dirty Girls do, we like to “cast” characters in our favorite books and imagine how some of their favorite places look.  Check out our Rock Chick Pinterest Board for a peek at how we see the people and places of Rock Chick.

Obviously with a series called Rock Chick music is a huge part of the books. I put together a song list of all the bands/musicians mentioned that I listen to all the time. It’s really that good!

There is definitely some overlap in her series, timeline wise, so here’s a link to my suggested reading order for Kristen Ashley’s books.

Spice’s Suggested Reading Order For Kristen Ashley’s Series

Rock Chick: The Series

Rock Chick: Hold on to your hat because this series starts out with a bang. As the original Rock Chick, Indie, and her scary bad boy, Lee, finally get together.  Shootings, kidnappings, pandemonium at gay bars, and smack downs at Chinese restaurants keep things interesting. I loved the history between Lee and Indy and I adored meeting all the members of the Rock Chick family for the first time.

Favorite Sexy Quote:

“Jesus,” he buried his face in my neck. “There’s nothin’ better in the world than hearing you say my name when I’m inside you.” He slid in deeper, filling me. “I’ve been waiting years to be right here.”

Rock Chick Rescue: Jet, the girl next door with a heart of gold, gets chased by Eddie, the ultra-sexy bad boy cop. Bar Brawls, pandemonium at the strip club times two (or three), and more kidnappings make Eddie’s high-speed pursuit of Jet just a tad bit tough on him. One of the eDG’s wrote, “Most I have laughed of any book I have read.” Jet will break your heart with her need to take care of everyone but herself, but trust me, Eddie put’s it back together again.

Rock Chick Redemption:
Roxie, a high maintenance, small town girl who’s on the run from her psycho ex, catches the eye of Hank, an All-American hot guy cop. A trip through Naughty Girl Martini-Land, a kidnapping, a riot at a strip joint and a wild run through a haunted cornfield makes things extremely difficult on our Hank. If you have ever been in a relationship with someone you shouldn’t have ever given the time of day, you will totally get Roxie’s feelings of self-hate. On the humorous side, Roxie’s parents cracked me up.

Favorite Sexy Quote:

“Tonight you sleep in my bed with me.”

I looked up at him.  In his arms I was quickly losing the will to fight, “Please,” I whispered the last desperate attempt.

His head bent and, with his lips against mine, he said, “Remember that word. You’re going to be using it a lot tonight.”

Rock Chick Renegade: Apart, they each had nothing. Together they had everything. Jules is a drop dead gorgeous social worker who’s also a bad ass vigilante trying to keep drug dealers away from the runaway kids she works with. When she comes to the attention of Vance, a Native American member of the Hot Bunch, absolute mayhem happens. Both Vance and Jules had heartbreaking stories which is one of the reasons why they are the DG’s favorite couple of any KA book. I fight with some of the DG’s over who gets Vance in our imaginary world. I would say we could share since it’s imaginary, but nope, not sharing that unbelievably sexy, hot, perfect book boyfriend, even if it’s pretend.

“Yeah. Me fucking you. In your bed, on your couch, in my bed and anywhere else I can think of. I’m gonna do you on your back, on your knees and you’re gonna ride me. And when I’ve exhausted you and you don’t have those shields up, I’m gonna make you talk to me and tell me what this shit is about and then, maybe, I can help you with it.”

Song:  Bad Moon on the Rise by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Rock Chick Revenge: Ava and Luke grew up as best friends in less than ideal circumstances, then they grew apart. When Ava finds herself in a spot of trouble, Luke is bound and determined to keep her safe and make her his. This dirty talking member of the hot bunch has handcuffs and he isn’t afraid to use them. Ava will keep you laughing, and Luke will keep your panties wet with his oh so dirty mouth. Wow.

“You’re too fuckin’ much. Throughout breakfast you’ve been decidin’ how to lie to me, and yourself, about what happened. That same time I’ve been strugglin’ with the urge to walk away from my mother, drag you back to my bed, rip your fuckin’ clothes off and bury myself so deep inside you, you feel me in your throat.”

Song: You’re My Best Friend by Queen

Rock Chick ReckoningRock Chick Reckoning: Stella and Mace were together once until Mace walked away. Stella, the premier Rock Chick since she’s the lead singer of a popular band, wants nothing to do with Mace after he broke her heart.  When all the Rock Chicks end up in a really bad guy’s cross hairs, Mace has his hands full keeping Stella alive. All hands are on deck as drive-bys, exploding houses, crazy snipers, evil family members and, of course, another kidnapping put the Rock Chicks and Stella in more danger than they have ever been through before. I think Mace is the most wounded of all the Hot Bunch. His story will bring tears to your eyes. As for Stella, I want to be her but without the pain in the ass band and the cluelessness she shows at first. Oh and when Stella gets on a roll and starts telling it how it is to whoever she has in her sights, its a thing of beauty.

“I’m gonna fuck you until I’ve erased everything I’ve said. Until the only thing you can think of is my cock inside you and my hands and mouth on you. Until I hear that fuckin’ voice of yours telling me you love me. I’m gonna fuck you until I know it’s me you want, despite all this shit, and I don’t care if it takes a fuckin’ week.”

Rock Chick Regret: The fairy princess and the sexy ex-DEA agent with an edge. Sadie is the daughter of a drug lord and Hector is the agent who put him away. What no one knows is that Sadie helped him. Hector wants Sadie but waits too long to claim her and tragedy strikes. Rock Chick Regret is the most emotionally gutting of all the Rock Chick Books. There are parts that are hard to read, but the beauty of watching Hector put Sadie back together and keep her safe while he did it is well worth it.

“I’m gonna say this once so pay attention. I’m not passin’ the time here, enjoyin’ a sweet, hot piece for the fuck of it. If you don’t get it yet, I’ll give it to you. What we got, it means somethin’. Do you understand?”

Rock Chick Revolution:
Ally is the Rock Chick with a secret. She’s a Nightingale and is determined to break into the family business of investigations. The Hot Bunch, especially her brothers, are just as determined to keep her out of it. Ren Zano, not a member of the Hot Bunch but who is definitely his own brand of hot, alpha yumminess, may be the only one who can handle Ally (and handle her he does, over and over again!). The Rock Chick Revolution begins and before it’s over, there may be casualties on both sides. All of us dreaded this book because we knew it was the last one. We laughed, we ugly cried, we said “OMG! she’s really going to do it!” and then we said goodbye to an amazing series.

“How many times do I have to tell you? We’re fuck buddies, Zano.”
He shook his head again, his thumb sweeping across my cheek and his face getting so close to mine, his lips nearly brushed my own.
“No, baby , we are not. I’ve had fuck buddies, Ally. And not one of them looked like you look when I slide inside you, every fucking time I slide inside you. Like a piece of you has been lost and now it’s found.”
Oh crap.
I probably looked just like that.
