Some lines are meant to be crossed...
One explosive device was all it took to turn Holt Cunningham from ass-kicking Marine to IT technician. Hell, he's still not over it. So when the cute little strawberry blonde at the bar asks him to kiss her, Holt can't resist the temptation of a sexy distraction. Before he knows it, she's blown his mind...and then skipped out the next morning.
Lydia Thomas never expected things with Holt to go quite that far, but oh, it was worth it. After being far too good for way too long, she was ready to be bad. Except that there's that tiny detail that Lydia kept to herself-Holt just spent the night doing naughty things...with his best friend's little sister.
One night isn't nearly enough. But with his friendship on the line, how far will Holt go in order to claim what's his?
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Lydia was just trying to show her ex she was over him when she asked the hot guy at the bar to kiss her. Then she realizes he is actually her big brother’s friend from work, which she decides not to share as she is very aware of the little sister rule, and Holt is waaaaaaay too hot to let the chance pass by.
Wouldn’t you know? Holt is forced to assist at a work party, and Lydia’s brother needs her to be his date. As chance would have it, of course, Holt and Lydia meet again. Now they are both aware of whom the other one is, but the attraction is too strong to fight it for real. They do try, though, as Holt was seriously pissed at first, but then realizes his feelings for Lydia are more than lust. There’s a lot of back and forth between them, there are a lot of obstacles thrown in the way, some by them and there’s some external help there too.
I really liked both characters. The story in itself was kind of predictable but the writing was good, their chemistry off the charts hot and it had some funny moments.
I was left with a massive question mark when at the beginning we learn that Lydia breaks up with her boyfriend when the douche decides to sleep with her roommate when Lydia doesn’t put out… but then she is all “my roommate is awesome and we still live together”. WTH? Was the one who slept with her ex another roommate? How can she dump that asshole and not slap the crap out of the roommate?? Ok, so the creep was a creep (as we later learn) and her roommate did do her a favor by giving her the reason to break the fuck up with him, but I still wouldn’t be all hearts and flowers with the bitch.
So, I really enjoyed the book, it was an easy, quick read and I will definitely be looking into this Author’s other work.
