He controls the game, but she's rewriting all the rules...
Marley Lake is no stranger to awkwardness, but getting caught watching a dirty GIF by the company's hot new IT guy exceeds even her standards. That is, until she realizes he's as turned on by it as she is. But with a big promotion on the line, she refuses to let her current dry spell be her downfall. Maybe.
Austin Rivers has no business lusting after the irresistible editor of Gamers Magazine. He's a secret partner in the business-and technically Marley's boss. One look at that GIF, though, and he's ready to install a whole lot more than just software...as long as she never finds out who he really is. But reality's not as virtual as it seems, and when Austin's identity jeopardizes Marley's promotion, he has to change his game or risk losing the only woman with the cheat code to his heart.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Well… give me a minute… *fanning self* this was unexpectedly hot, as in H.O.T freakin’ hot!
We have two smoldering, slightly nerdy individuals, that by chance (or make that a flighty computer) see a side of each other that was totally unexpected and the heat is on!
Marley, a very work-oriented and serious woman with a heavy side of quirky and awkwardly cute, has always had an interest in being dominated in bed. She had a bad experience when a boyfriend made her feel crazy for wanting that and has since restricted her desires to looking up Dom / Sub related GIFs on Tumblr (who hasn’t?). As luck would have it -or call it destiny- the one day she opens that page at work her computer freezes with unsaved work. Before losing everything she’s been working on she calls the IT department for help.
The IT guy who’s not really just an IT guy, Austin, comes to the rescue, and in the process of saving her work sees the Tumblr page Marley had open. Austin had been silently lusting after Marley in a completely non-creepy-stalkerish way, but when he sees what floats her boat decides that the distance he’s been keeping shouldn’t be there anymore. They begin an on-again-off-again secret affair, and we get to see them fighting inner demons and the always present “what would people think”.
This was a short, easy read. They were sweet, the sexy scenes were super hot and it had some really funny moments. I struggled a bit with both their issues; I felt it was a little over-dramatic. Still, it didn’t bother me that much and I had a great time while reading. It definitely left me with a goofy smile, and I’ll be checking for Ms. Erickson’s work again.
