To Chuito the apartment was a self-imposed prison for a lifetime of sins. To Alaine, the girl next door, it was salivation from her overbearing, religious father.
He was a devil.
She was an angel.
Two people who should’ve never met, let alone become friends, but it’s not until they give in to the dangerous passion that’s been simmering under the surface for five years that things go to hell.
On the outside, Chuito “The Slayer” Garcia in on top of the world. He’s successful. He’s wealthy. He's a champion MMA fighter surrounded by friends who support him, but they don’t know what he was before he came to Garnet.
Now his past is churning up demons he can’t ignore. Chuito knows he needs to go back to Miami to end it, but there's something holding him back, a single temptation he can't resist before leaving.
She’s the one drug he can’t give up…even if it destroys them both.
LOVED Chuito. Chuito está buenísimo. I want my own Puerto Riqueño to call me mami. Ha!
Alaine had me wavering, at times I liked her and other times I just wanted to slap her, pendeja!
This book is as much about the bromance between all the hot guys: Chuito, Marcos, Nova and Tino, as the romance between Chuito and Alaine. This was my issue with the first book in this series too. A lot is going on and them being a couple is not the sole focus of the book.
Still, Ms. Moon has a way of writing her alphas that you just don’t care how much you have to wait for the romance, whatever you get you looooooooove.
The way the story goes, we start where The Viper ends (the present) but at this point, Chuito and Alaine had been involved in a pseudo-relationship for almost 5 years (the “far away” past). We need to know how they came to be the way they are right now, and how Chuito and Tino became such good friends (the “a bit closer to right now” past) so the book has several flashback chapters. I really liked how this was done, it helps you get how our characters came to be in the present, keeps you in the story and it doesn’t get confusing at all.
I don’t usually enjoy my Hs to have the whole undeserving of the h bs, but I could totally see why Chuito tried to keep his distance. Have I mentioned I love Chuito? Te amo Chuito!!!!
Again I found the Spanish in this book almost perfect (gracias for that) just some misplaced written accents (tía is always tía, never tiá) but other than that I was in Latino Heaven. Keep up el buen trabajo señorita Luna : )
