There are two sides to every Gemini guy...and one of them is red-hot.
Olivia Carter has a handsome, millionaire boyfriend. She's madly in love with him. The hitch? He doesn't actually exist. She told the lie to saveForever, her wedding design shop. And it worked-almost too well. As the media attention increases, so do the demands for Olivia to produce her "boyfriend." With both her reputation and career in jeopardy, Olivia is desperate enough to do almost anything...
Which is exactly what millionaire Mason Parker wants. Thanks to Olivia and her father, Mason went through hell during his teen years, and now it's time for a little payback-starting with the announcement that he's her one and only. Now the sexy Olivia has no choice but to do what Mason wants. But none of his plans for vengeance included falling in love with the woman he planned to ruin...
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I’m sorry to say I didn’t really get into this book. While well written and perfectly paced I found the events that took place in it too far fetched. Yes I know, stranger than fiction is something that’s real, and I’m sure this or something like it could have happened in real life. But for whatever reason, I just couldn’t buy it here.
Beware, from now on this review is mild-to-maybe-a-lot spoilery.
So, from the blurb we know that Olivia made up a boyfriend to save her wedding dress design business from going under.
When the lie is on the verge of being discovered (you can never-be-seen-together just so many times before someone wonders if your boyfriend is supposed to be so great, why isn’t he showing up to be with you) the guy she crushed on high school shows up saying (on the media) that he is her mystery boyfriend.
Now, this guy, Mason, was the town bad boy until he is sent to prison for setting fire to the police station. Olivia’s father was the town chief of police at the time and even though Mason swore he didn’t do it, he and his 3 friends get sent to juvie View Spoiler ».
Still claiming to be innocent of that crime, he comes back with revenge in his heart, and if he has to use Olivia to get to her father so be it.
We find out pretty soon that Mason is pissed at Olivia because while he swears he was with her at the time of the crime, she never corroborated his alibi. It seems Olivia doesn’t have memories of the night of the fire, only that she feels uneasy when trying to remember what happened after she left the party she was at.
You guessed it, I’ll put all of this in spoiler tags so you can still read this book if you want to without me ruining all the “surprises” for you View Spoiler »
Now after all this BS I still really wanted to like the book, but I was too angry at the plot to be successful.
Mason was too good. He was sweet, soft, and hot. I wanted to kick Olivia in the head with steel-toed boots half the time.
I’m sure plenty of people will enjoy this book, as I said, it’s engaging and the writing is good. I just couldn’t get past the injustice (and the bs reason behind it).
