She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy...

Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.

...and it’s going to be oh so good.

All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.

By LilyWow, this is a book not to be missed. I’ve been listening to the EDGy chatter about this and was contemplating when I’d be able to squeeze this book in. Finally thought I’d give it a go. Happy days! I was blessed with a book that came through on the buzz I crave!

Hannah Wells is a Music Major at Briar University, striving to get a scholarship to help ease her parents of the burden of paying for her education. A rape survivor living away from home, she determined to succeed and live life fully while still remaining focused on the end goal of winning the scholarship.

Graham Garrett, a History Major and talented hockey player, needs to maintain a C+ Average to keep his place on the Hockey Team. The only problem is that his grades aren’t going to get him there at the rate he’s going. No worries, he’ll use his charm to get some tutoring. He’s found just the person but his charming ways get him nowhere with Hannah aka Wellsy. Garrett knows that everyone has their price, it’s only a matter of working out hers.

They work out ‘The Deal’ and it seems like a win, win scenario for them both. The price was a little higher than Garrett expected and Hannah learns that life has a way of turning out not quite the way you expect. It was easier and more fun than either of them bargained for, well mostly…

While they are working on their arrangement, the story delves into the dramas with Hannah’s upcoming musical competition, Garrett and his team’s battle to be the top hockey team as well how they both deal with their families.

I smiled at the wit and humour that they unleashed as they dealt with the curve balls life threw at them. There’s a fun exchange of banter through text messages and phone calls that I really enjoyed. The biggest bonus was for an NA book this was no cheesy story, as the main characters handled life in a fairly mature manner. The Deal includes aspects of the darker sides of violence, in and out of the family. So for a book that deals with serious issues, I never felt weighted down with the content. The writing flowed so effortlessly that I read it easily over what equated to a day’s reading.

In amongst the story are some steamy moments. Garrett obviously punches above his weight in the bedroom. He has the reputation and proven ability to confidently maintain his credibility in that department about campus and is not shy about acknowledging it.

I would love to have talked more about this book, but struggled to do that without adding spoilers. This was definitely an amusing, romantic and enjoyable story based around some serious issues.  So you can count on me checking out what else Ms Kennedy has written.there is bound to be other gems that I should be reading!
