Risking It All is a 29,000 word novella with a satisfying romantic ending -- no cliffhangers. It is the second of three novellas featuring Jack & Lily, preceded by Betting It All (out now) and followed by Burning It All (April 1st). The Motorcycle Clubs series is a novella series for women who want all of the heat and emotion, but who don't have all of the time. A month ago, I risked everything with a bet that should have made Jack Hayden mine. But now I think I’ve truly lost…
All my life, I’ve fought for everything I want. That’s earned me a place as the only female member of the Hellfire Riders MC. It’s given me thirty nights with the Riders’ dangerous warlord. It’s given me hope for so much more.
Yet when Jack abandons my bed before the thirty nights are up, the pain of fighting for more time in Jack’s arms just isn’t worth the risk anymore. Because I can’t expose any vulnerability, especially now that the Devil’s Hangmen are making a play for Rider territory—and Jack can lay my heart wide open so easily...
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The 14th book in The Motorcycle Clubs Series and 5th in the Hellfire Riders MC Series, Risking It All is probably one of my favorites. Actually, the Hellfire Riders is definitely my favorite series within the series. Lily, or Zoomie as she’s known as, is my favorite kind of heroine. She does not need nor want a man to take care of her. She’s the only patched in female in the Hellfire Riders and she earned her spot by being able to kick some ass and take care of business. Unfortunately, there are many who think that she has no business being a member of the MC and she has to fight for every ounce of respect she gets. Hooking up with a brother could definitely undermine her position and there is only one brother worth it to her, Jack “Blowback” Hayden. In Betting It All she gambled 30 nights and purposely lost, knowing she was going all in and knowing that in the end, she could lose everything. The thirty nights are almost up and it looks like she bet wrong.
I never thought it would end this way. The way we go at each other, I expected an explosion, a fight. Not this slow, quiet end.
Jack is the best kind of hero too. He’s alpha, he’s impressive to look at, he’s the toughest one out there, and he has demons of the ugliest kind. What I love about Jack is that even though he is the most dangerous and deadly guy around, he’s not in your face about it. He just quietly goes about taking care of business and the bad guys don’t even realize they are dead until it’s too late. For Jack, there is only one woman who could ever do it for him, if he can figure out how to keep her.
She thinks this is over? Fuck no. This fight’s just begun. And my gloves are coming off. Because I’m never going to be done.
If ever there was a failure to communicate, it is with these two. Neither one has ever been in a relationship and it really shows. Usually, this kind of angsty stuff drives me bonkers, but it works here. You understand just how effed up these two are due to their pasts, so you get why they can’t seem to get it together. The one place they do communicate well is in bed. These two are on fire together when it comes to sex and there is lots and lots and lots of it making an enjoyable read even more….enjoyable.
“No talking,” I give his cock a warning squeeze. “Only fucking.”
His response is a deep groan and a heavy pulse through his shaft. This is nothing like the first night, either. That was all about learning what he likes, but I’ve had a month to discover how his body responds to mine. I’ve learned that he loves to ride on the edge of pain. Not with teeth or fingernails or floggers, though he’s loved all that, too, but with arousal so keen it’s almost too painful to come – and too painful not to.
As with all The Motorcycle Club books, this one is action packed with all sorts of MC issues. The rival club has its sights set on Jack and they are gunning for Lily. Jack has to figure out if he can let her fight her own battles by having her back instead of being her shield or she will lose everything she has worked so hard for. If he screws up, he stands to lose her in more ways than one.
At the end of the book, although Jack and Lily are in a good place personally, they are definitely still in the crosshairs. I can not wait for the next part of their story.
