Forced to represent an outlaw biker, a married attorney must come to terms with her feelings for her client while avoiding the danger he brings into her sedate life.
President of the Lost Kings MC, Rochlan "Rock" North, hasn't managed to find a woman capable of making him want to curb his wild ways—until he meets sweet, innocent, married lawyer Hope Kendall.
Forced to represent the outlaw biker, Hope is rattled by her immediate attraction to Rock. Hope is a good girl in a good marriage. Rock thrills her, but she's not going to throw away everything she's built on a fling with her criminal client.
Rock respects Hope enough to leave her alone, even as he realizes he's become a little obsessed with her. When their connection endangers her life, he'll have to destroy her in order to save her.
After tragedy strikes, Rock is determined to earn Hope's forgiveness and convince her that even with their staggering differences, they're meant to be together.
As far as MC books go, this ones pretty tame. It’s a 1% club and there is definitely some MC dealings going on, but it’s not a gritty book. I do feel like I need to say on the front end, although it sort of sounds like it in the synopsis, there is no cheating going on.
I loved Hope. She is determined, sweet and loyal. Tragedy happens and she falls apart but she puts herself back together again with the help of Rock. She’s also kind of funny even when she doesn’t mean to be.
“You’ve got a room full of naked women out there, but cardigans and wool pants turn you on?”
Rock is an excellent book boyfriend. He’s alpha, smart, and can be an ass but doesn’t go out of his way to be one. Once he sees a clear path to Hope, he goes all out to get it. I loved how he listened to her and I loved how he did his best to do what he thinks is right for Hope, even if it hurt him. He respected her and it showed, and was always trying to make her feel better about things, even if it was in an alpha biker way.
“Z got an eyeful of your sweet ass. Now I have to punch him in the face a few times. Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll agree it was worth it.”
The only complaints I have about Slow Burn is it was almost too sweet. A little more action and grit would have made this a 5 star read for me. In the end, it was sweet, funny, sexy, broke my heart in places, and hot. Well worth reading.
